You talking about this movie?
Any film with a people munching piano has got to be a good bet. I’m looking forward to seeing it.
See! This is what happens when you drop nuclear bombs on people.
I like how the editor of that trailer thought it was necessary to include a clip of a girl eating an enormous rice cake …
Also, by simply watching the trailer one can see that Obayashi “got his wings” directing commercials. And what is that horrendous music in the trailer? It sounds REALLY familiar but I can’t place it.
I just watched the trailer and the scene where the girl gets eaten by the piano.
Is it seriously supposed to be this funny?
Yes.
Yeah, after Vivre sa vie and Antichrist, I think this is going to be my most-desired Criterion release this year.
omg I am so blind-buying this whenever it comes out!
is this confirmed? i saw a random clip pretty much by happenstance a while back and i knew right then that i had to see it somehow.
What the hell? I’m surprised I haven’t seen this yet.
i saw this movie a few weeks ago and its taking every ounce of energy not to buy the MoC Region 2 and hold out for the rumored Criterion.
A month or so ago, the NYT reported that “House” would be released later in 2010 by Criterion.
I think due to the fact this film is still making its round in art houses (backed by Janus I think) they are probably just sitting on it for a few more months. Having the poster for sale on their site seems to be a pretty damn clear indication that they will distribute the film, and it will be sooner than later.
House is worth every penny. I bought it on Masters of Cinema as a blind buy and have already watched it three times with various people and I have come to the conclusion that this is probably one of the best movies to share with friends because of its very random nature like Monty Pythons Quest for the Holy Grail.
I was pretty cryptic by my initial comment on this film, but Bridges is correct. If one is “into” this kind of humour, House is entirely worth it (there is a perfectly acceptable torrent out there for those who are crafty btw). It is a very “crowd-friendly” film, but even if one is the proverbial loner (speaking from experience here, chaps), there is a lot to appreciate from the experience. The film is VERY self-aware and that can often turn a lot of people off, but trust me, it’s done very well. Very similar in the vein of Herschel Gordon Lewis or, perhaps, Stuart Gordon. Classic.

I want to see this film so bad and I’ve heard it’s great
do you think criterion will release it or are they fucking with us?
oh and is Cul-de-Sac ever coming?
