Mad in Imax 3-D!
this mad:
“On the other hand, if The Hurt Locker wins best pic, there will be hope for humanity.”
Don’t forget A Serious Man!
But neither of them will win. I think it will probably be Avatar, in which case I’ll be an 8.9.
james vs. kathryn.
ex husband & wife battle it out.
the winner? who cares. this is like a high school student council election.
I would be madder if the lifetime movie precious won
Hurt Locker could win. Avatar has no screenplay nomination (though neither did Titanic)…
but I will be so mad that I will be excited that avatar won.
I loved Avatar #4 for the year. Anything can win but Blindside and District 9 and i’ll be excited.
I would love for you to describe to me how ASM, THL and TWR are bad films Den…
Almost as mad as if the Blind Side wins.
Beautiful words Den, although A Serious Man and The Hurt Locker deserve it more than the rest.
Five Minutes of Heaven was an excellent film that hasnt gotten any recognition. James Nesbitt was brilliant.

Den: That’s A Single Man, Serious Man is the Coen film. ;)
oh sorry I haven’t seen that one (plus full discloser I haven’t seen avatar except in a 2d flea market copy but saw the other eight) I misread the nomination
About as mad as I was was when AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS won. Of course, I wasn’t born yet, so I got over it.
Am I the only one who disliked Hurt Locker? I really wanted to like it. But truth, I HATED Avatar, so I will be happy if Kathryn Bigelow takes if if only to erase the Avatar experience from my memory.
Many better films than Avatar. I’d like An Education to win. Not that it will.
Den: I’ve confused them at least once myself. :D
I haven’t watched Avatar at all, I just don’t care. :\
I usually hate all the choices the Acadummy makes. But since I do not watch the show I really do not care.
I will be very disappointed if anything except A Serious Man or Basterds wins. (Well Up and Up in the Air would be okay I guess…)
Go in full Hulk Rage mode.
ON A SERIOUS NOTE:
Probably be irritated for a few days day, than not care.
Why do people still care what the Academy does? The winner is typically chosen for reasons that are more or less irrelevant to the merits of the film. For example: Clint Eastwood won the best director award for the mediocre Million Dollar Baby not because he deserved it, but because he was slighted for the outstanding Mystic River. That’s the first example that popped into my mind, but there are many more like it.
The solution to not getting mad about the Oscars? Simple: stop giving a fuck.
I’ll be pretty pissed.
I will punch myself in the throat.
There’s too much credence given to the Academy Awards. They don’t and shouldn’t matter. I don’t care if Avatar gets 100 Oscars. That part of the entertainment industry means nothing to me.
Not mad at all. It’s a wondrous film that has the sensation of being a little kid, swept away into a magical world and held there, in ecstasy, for 2 1/2 hours. Would be quite deserving, even though “A Serious Man” is clearly the best of the category.

On a scale of 10, I will be at about a 9.6.
Not that I usually care about the Oscars, but giving it such an endorsement would be saying to the world, ’Yes, spending millions on an all around terrible film whose only strong point lies in blurring the lines between cinema and amusement park rides, is not only a good thing, but bravura film making.
If Avatar wins it will be a sure sign that the Apocalypse is not far off. On the other hand, if The Hurt Locker wins best pic, there will be hope for humanity.
I’m praying for Kathryn Bigelow… let there be some justice in the world.
