How mad will you be if Inglourious Basterds doesn't win BP

Alex Klinger

It is clear the best film nominated.

Robley

Hehehe…

I hope it wins. I haven’t seen a lot of the other nominees, but it was one of the movies that I enjoyed most from last year.

Naw it won’t win. I don’t also agree that it was the best of the ten. A serious man was a better movie than inglourious basterds although I thought that IB was quite good and the acting fantastic. A serious man was is up there on the Coen Brother’s best. Unfortunately all conventional wisdom is pointing to the Hurt Locker. But we will find out on sunday.

My ranking of the 6 I have seen…

1. Inglourious Basterds
2. A Serious Man
3. Up in the Air
4. The Hurt Locker
5. Up
6. Avatar

Unfortunately either THL or Avatar will win… I really wish The White Ribbon and Tetro were nominated… or Antichrist… or Bright Star…

Drew, you put Bastards over A Serious Man? WOW. You must have loved Basterds. And I thought I did.

Both are in my top 20 for the decade!!!

Not mad at all….

That’s ridiculous…

Drew, WOAH! That’s really saying something. I couldn’t tell you my top twenty, although I made a list of my top ten.

Robley, Nope, just an opinion. I’ve heard crazier ones.

Zach, I just could not comfortably make a top 10. :)

I guess I could have just made a top 11 (kicking Diving Bell off of my official top 10 really hurt), but then I would have had to leave out SO much!

It won’t win, but I’m rooting for it anyway. The award is going to either The Hurt Locker or Avatar. I haven’t seen A Serious Man or Up in the Air yet, but of all the other nominees, Inglourious Basterds is my favorite.

Robley

I’ve heard much crazier ones too. But still…wow.

Drew, you’re never comfortable with a top ten. ;)

And Diving Bell is really close to my top ten. Really, I should have put either that, My Winnipeg, or Elephant in the place of A Serious Man. But I didn’t.

If Basterds doesn’t win, well, not only won’t I be surprised, but I won’t be pissed, either. I am not expecting it to win. i most certainly love the film, yes, but I’d rather A Serious Man win (which it won’t), or, hopefully, the much more deserving film than Avatar, The Hurt Locker, for the win.

I’m crossing my fingers von Trier smashes through the window with a parachute and punches James in the face and steals the Oscar.

Or maybe there will be a surprise Haneke win, just so they can cut him off after seconds twice in one night.

Is it crazy to think A Serious Man has a chance?

McBean

Personally I’d have gone with A Serious Man. However, here’s the best picture nominations, minus
A Serious Man:

Avatar
The Hurt Locker
The Blind Side
Inglourious Basterds
An Education
District 9
Up
Up In The Air
Precious

I don’t see any problem whatsoever picking Inglourious Basterds out of that bunch.

Zachary Phillip Brailsford

Robley, A Serious Man has virtually no chance, I believe… :( Plus, it was a very divisive film, and so I doubt enough people will vote for it.

Robley, Yes. No film without a Best Director nomination has a chance.

Robley

Minus A Serious Man, I suppose I would like to see IB win…but I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Not at all, if A Serious Man wins.
Either one is fine.

But, yeah Zachary, it will never win.

I’d be pissed if IB won. It’s a tasteless flick that if anything makes Jews seem as God awful and remorseless as the Nazis were.

Drew: You know the nominees have to be in english right?

Kenji

The Oscars are almost a guarantee of medocrity, so out of this sorry bunch it’s likely the tradition will continue

Drew.

M I, Exactly.

Lucas Granero

I watched all the Oscar’s nominate movies and, by far, “Basterds” is the only master piece in the competition. It should win, but probably the award will go for “Avatar” or that boring shit named “The Hort Locker”.-

morita

IB won’t win, it has no chances. THE HURT LOCKER will win, and it’s the worst movie, like the fascist UP IN THE AIR.

i watched A SERIOUS MAN and i think it’s a great movie, it’s better than NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. but i think it has no chances too.

DISTRICT 9 can win too. another piece of crap

Drew.

Dare I even ask… how is Up in the Air fascist? :D

CJ Roy

It’s still between Avatar and The Hurt Locker, despite this email fiasco.

This voting process, however, allows middle grounders like Inglourious to pose a threat. I just hope it isn’t Avatar or, even worse, Precious
