For some people it’s a neat challenge.

I’m 15 away from completing the whole collection…. It’s taken years and a lot of money.

Personally, I’d rather complete Artificial Eye.
Then sell everything and use the money to buy a camera. ):
Andrew: Take a picture of your collection, would love to see it.
LAW: I wish I can complete Artificial Eye, Eureka/MoC, Criterion, etc.
I have 50 Masters of Cinema dvd’s and all of the Blu-rays to date (which is only 6!).
Here’s a link to my blog, where I posted a picture of my collection:

I’ll be needing to fill in that top shelf pretty soon.

Awesome Dave!!!! How much has your collection grown since you last took that photo back in 2008???
Look forward to seeing more photos of others collections!
I actually just posted the photo from the other night. I back-dated it just to keep it out of my current list of blog posts. It’s grown quite a bit since 2008 though! The run of 2009 releases on the lower right shelf is an obvious giveaway if you study the photo a bit. :)
You may also notice that some of the cases are pushed in – that indicates the DVDs I’ve written about in my series of reviews on the blog. Likewise, the empty boxes on the top shelf indicates that I’m in the middle of writing about the film in that set. Once I’ve completed my reviews (as with the Hitchcock set) the box goes back in its place. I assure you that this is the only part of my life that is managed with such nerdy compulsivity. My bookshelves are a chaotic mix and I work out of piles of paper on the job.
Two B & N 50% off sales, some “Buy 2 Get 1 Free,” eBaying, gifts, and trading in other used media to get new DVDs has helped me build the set (relatively) on the cheap.
Dave: Very Cool! Looks like you’re going to be running out of space soon. I actually like how you did that setup. I’m also running out of room and the way you have things set is more economical.
It’s easy to buy the releases but when it comes to having to shell out for bigger shelf space…I’m like…nah, I rather purchase more releases. Hehe…
I have every criterion. 500 when roberto reosselinis War Trilogy arrives. I ordered them from DVDplanet and Amazon.com, the rest I got from ebay and my local shop. It is a constant source of delight. And it is wonderful to get to know films that I never would have seen, hadn.t it been for their inclusion in Criterion, like Wise Blood and White Dog. Wouldn’t have known about them.
