No, but that’s a good guess. Thanks Samantha.
More thoughts:
The man was rather old and may have had white hair (you know, those old butler/waiter type) and the prostitute was not too charming.
Asking for someone in a blog community I’m in:
What flick’s this from?
Sam: I wanna guess The Blood of a Poet, but I’m only 85% sure.
Think you’re right, Josh! Thanks a bunch!
No problem, Sam. :)
Hello everybody.
I saw the beginning of a film about 7 years ago (well that’s not important). I know the film is greek (well it could be russian too) but I dont know what film was! I remember the film because the first shots were beautiful and striking (at least I remember them as beautiful). The scene I remember is like this: a boy (or a girl or and adult but likely a boy) is in the top of a tall wooden lifeguard tower (or something like that) besides a lake and an adult man approaches the tower calling for the kid and getting him down. After that, in other scene, we know the man is the father who was far away from home for a long time.
This scenes could have been reinvented by my memory but do you know any greek film that started in a similar way?
Great Thread Idea.
Some films I can’t identify by name anymore:
1) Drama early/mid nineties. Think it’s in Spanish.
Story as I remember it: A woman cheats on her husband with a Lesbian. When he finds out about her affair her girlfriend moves in with them. The Woman spends 3 days of the week with her husband and 3 with her girlfriend (taking Saturday or Sunday off just for herself). Eventually her husband is unhappy with the living arrangement and makes a deal with his wife’s girlfriend that she would leave for good if he’d help her conceive a baby. (pretty much all I remember. In one scene the husband reveals his penis to the lesbian and she calls it as ugly)
Solved French Twist / Gazon Maudit Thanks to ralch
2) Vampire Western. 70’s or 80’s.
Very cheesy.A small Western town is run by Vegetarian Vampires (who have found some substitute for Blood) but soon some blood suckers show up and they invent guns that use wooden bullets to gun each other down.
3) Black and white Italian Drama/ black comedy(?). Maybe 1960’s(?)
Only Remember one scene from this film. In that scene a guy drives in a car with his mother who keeps talking and annoying him, eventually he stops the car and throws her down a cliff.
SOLVED – It was Fists in the Pocket (1965) – Thanks again to arsaib!
Misael Diaz: That sounds a little like a scene from Andrei Zvyagintsev’s The Return, a Russian film from 2003.
Apocalypse Salem: 3) Marco Bellocchio’s Fists in the Pocket (1965). Great film.
“Marco Bellocchio’s Fists in the Pocket (1965). Great film.”
That’s it! Thank you so much arsaib!
Cheers!
Apocalypse, is No. 1 Josiane Balasko’s French Twist / Gazon Maudit, with Victoria Abril?
“s No. 1 Josiane Balasko’s French Twist / Gazon Maudit, with Victoria Abril?”
Just checked out a clip on youtube and yes, that’s the one! Thank you Ralch! been looking for the name of that film for years.
Seems I was wrong about the Language.
5 months later, I’m still wondering what that film I saw in Perth was…
Sorry, Law ] :
Okay, this one’s driven me crazy for a couple years now. What movie is it with the psychotic kid who pretends to have some old lady’s dog in a sack and beats it with a bat leading the old lady to have a heart attack and DIE, then it’s revealed that there was only raw meat and maybe ketchup in the sack? I think the kid even lets the dog eat some.
@ARSAIB Yes. That’s it. Thank you very much :) I’ll try to watch the film. I hope it’s a good film. Saw good comentaries in the site.
Trying to remember a movie I’ve seen a couple times.
Sort of a Jane Austen-y spoof.
English family, takes a trip to India, takes some of their lawn with them so they can have proper English tea.
Female lead tries to seduce one of the men (who is gay), and uses a “how to” book which recommends word association. The word that works best is “Eton” (the school he went to), and he gets very excited when his own love interest walks in on them.

Ok, here is one I saw half my life ago (literally)… it has a kid in it, I do not remember much except that the adult male who lives with the kid drinks or bathes in gasoline. I believe the setting is a farm or ranch… pretty sure it is a rural setting.
Truly all I can recall is an image of the man pouring gasoline over himself, and that it has a young boy in it.
also… a kung-fu fantasy movie with kids that fight a stone idol… any ideas?
This is one I saw about four years ago. It’s German, made in the last decade. It’s about a disturbed teenage boy who I believe commits a crime in the course of the film, which his parents then read about in the paper.
At some point he goes to a rest stop and does something sexual with a group of biker guys in the rest stop bathroom., though I don’t think you actually see what happens.
One with Kate Blanchett, Bruce Willis and that guy who married Angelina Jolie. They are bank robbers.
Anyone??
I’m trying to recall the director and title of a French film, the climactic scene of which involves a young woman pushing a menacing older man off a yacht just as a massive swarm of jellyfish have come in with the tide.
The stings are fatal.
Berjuan, that movie is Bandits.
Two samurai crossing a bridge on their way to a hopeless fight. In the middle of the bridge they stop and look out over the water at the cherry trees. One says, “Sad, to die when the cherries are in blossom.” The other replies, “Yes. Sad.” And then they continue across the bridge.
What film is that scene from?
@Benajmin -
Man pouring gas… farm… The Reflecting Skin?
Thanks Brennan.
ok, i have got a tough one.. about 15 years ago in a film lecture i saw a scene of a film i have been looking since..
its shows a couple walking in a field. i cant remember exactly what they are doing, dancing or kissing or chatting..

WARNING! NSFW-ish photograph below!!
(Asking for another user) Need help identifying this actress:

He says:
Her name starts with an “S”.
I am sure she is not Shu Qi, although to me she does look a little bit like her!
She is supposed to be a very famous asian actress in a particular film style (don’t know which one though!).
She’s not chinese.
I figured I’d post this on here, instead of starting a new thread. I need to know the name of a 1940’s vampire film. From what I remember of what my “friend” told me, the vampire’s name is Dominick. He likes to peep through windows and look at women. I think the film is American. That’s all I can remember. I’m not possibly sure if I actually did talk about this film with my “friend” or if I was dreaming. Thanks.
@ Michael
Are you sure it is 1940s… sounds like Romero’s “Martin”. I just remember him being very peeping tom-ish as he stalks his victims.
@ Miasma
I think that is the one… thanks.

While in Australia, near Perth, I saw a film near midnight right after Narco. The film was a European of some sort, perhaps Italian, and in its opening scenes, featured rather prominently a waiter/butler and a prostitute. I do not remember anything else but this is killing me. If I see some screencaps, I will probably be able to recognise the film. Please throw out any possibilities. Thanks.
