Sometimes I just get down. I get very tired despite having lots of sleep and I feel very unmotivated. Usually it fades away in a couple hours or days, but I thought I’d solicit all you lovely people I interact with regularly to offer some cheering up.
If you want we can make this the regular good cheer topic. Post here if you can offer encouragement and smiles, and come visit here if you need some of that.
you are my sunshine, my only sunshine
you make me happy when skies are grey!
you’ll never know, riss, how much i love you
so don’t take my sunshine away
Animals on trampolines:
Alexandra, no joke, that song actually always does cheer me up! It actually is a song that comes into my head when I’m happy. I sing permutations of it to my fiancee. I had forgotten all about it. Thank you!
Matt, I very rarely laugh out loud when I see internet videos. I mean it’s really rare. And that bear made me just totally crack up.
First two posts are big winners!
Hahahah, dumb White Sox fans. Although if they were Cubs fans I don’t think they’d even be sober enough to be able to hold a camera up at all much less point it the correct direction.
I kinda like feeling down though.
Put on some sad music and just go with it.
I’d suggest some Yo La Tengo.
Happy people are annoying.
I’ve posted this before but I don’t know that anything could be more joyous!
and we’ve all seen this but it always still makes me smile….
having done that though, I agree with Mogambo, being sad is fine it’s unavoidable and part of every life but if it’s chronic and debilitating a person might need to re-assess their life, their choices and maybe see a counsellor life coach or similar to assist/clarify what might be the source
Ditto to Meg.
Watch a Mel Brooks movie, Riss! :D
fred and ginger always do it for me. any of their films. they all have the same plot basically
^ oh yeah, those are great! :D
@meg and really it’s not even being ‘sad’ in a lot of cases. I think people mistake being introspective/introverted/overthinking as being depressed.
“I’d suggest some Yo La Tengo.”
I can get behind that suggestion.
Ha! Been listening to Yo La Tengo for a few weeks now. I guess I’m ok with my melancholia. :D
dude i’m just discovering the greatness that is yo la tengo. first heard them on the old joy soundtrack.
but only recently am i listening to their looong epic tracks. so fucking good.
‘more stars than there are in heaven’ is just beautiful man.
agree happy people are annoying :P
we sort of like u now, mogambo. u can stay
LOL Rockettes be damned!
LOL Yeah if you like Yo La Tengo as much as that, then I’m cool with ya too. ;)
ruby’s got all the best clips and gifs!
@Mogambo yes sometimes that’s true, the focus is so much on outward seeking that people get a bit alarmed thinking there’s something wrong with them when the normal cyclical feelings of introspection happen
You know what cheers me up from depression?
i love gutbucket blues myself but i’ve suggested this to people before and they just look at me like i’m nuts.
it’s cathartic. preach!
hope we’re not making it worse riss. lol
^yep. i just think my way out of it. there is beauty in depressing music.
grind my coffee lol
Happy happy joy joy. Happy happy joy joy. :)
I got better after the first two posts, and then work took me away from the computer so I couldn’t respond after that.
Thanks for the extra posts though! Yay for dogs on the beach. Yay for Panka the Schnauzer.
I never could get into Yo La Tengo, but I’m glad some other people are enjoying it.
The Ivor Cutler bit is pretty hilarious though.
Why should happy people annoy you? Do they just remind you of how unhappy you are? I usually find people who complain more annoying.
oh yeah, ^this too =)
