Go on…

Mood is certainly Tarr’s strong point. More than just the dirge-like slowness and color palate of the visuals, you must also pay attention to how the events that happen build upon said mood, instead of necessarily a development of the plot. Esztike’s death not only gives the means to exploit the commune from its money. It gives us the first of two funerals at the end of the procession (the second being that of the entire commune).

Or are there three funerals? Speaking of the Doctor holing himself up in darkness.

I was actually taking that as the funeral of the commune. The commune was empty except for the Doctor, and he was holing himself up in light of the prophecy “Jönnek a Törökök!”.

Ah yes. Though it could also be considered a sort of entombment as all the villagers fall into Irimias’ trap.

I’m sure there are quite a few ways to interpret it. The end result is always apocalypse.

How about that Owl?! Hunh, kids?!

So far, this month, we haven’t had any sunny days (including today) in my town (Oak Harbor) sometimes. That’s sort of like this film except in real life.
