In his new book on President Obama, Ismael Reed says “Precious” “makes G.W. Griffith look like a liberal.”
I couldn’t agree more.
The film’s correct title should be “Fat Black Girls Get AIDS”
As for “Monique” she’s “bringing the nigger back.”
How comforting to white America in the age of Obama to see a cinematic parade of African-Americans who at best can only be called worthless.
I agree, sort of. Tyler Perry films have more dignity
I do think Monique deserves the Oscar and this award, despite of what I think of the film itself…
Especially Oprah and Perry being attached to the film makes it so ridiculous.
“The film’s correct title should be “Fat Black Girls Get AIDS” "
Exactly (no sarcasm).
I don’t see the Monique point though, I found her performance brilliant.

my biggest problem is Anvil (a so-so doc) over The Cove or Tyson. I hated Precious but at least it is the kind of independent that made money and could inspire other stories.
