hello, kunam88! why don’t we talk about this year’s jakarta international film festival (jiffest), eh? yesterday, i have watched indonesian short films and i just got home from edwin’s blind pig who wants to fly. and i’m looking forward for tomorrow’s international short films and lukas moodysson’s mammoth. have you seen that?
hello,Reno Nismara (should we cut the crap,and talk with our own language here?)
JIFFEST,i;m planning to go tomorrow..or wednesday (that is all goes according to plan,of course)
really interested to watch terribly happy or/and The headless woman
so,blind pig who wants to fly.is it good,then?
ps:sorry about the misspelled title,but i don’t know how to edit it,though
hallo juga :malu:
just asking… how you guys find rare film in jakarta ?
haha halo RIAN POULAIN
well,.i mostly downloading it,.or if you wanna buy a rare DVD,.here’s the link:
http://www.kaskus.us/showthread.php?t=1586151
katanya mau pake bahasa indonesia?
blind pig secara teknik sama konsep udah bagus, tapi outputnya secara menyeluruh rada hambar klo menurut gw. padahal metafor2 yg dipake udah bagus. sayang bgt outputnya hambar.
wah iya tuh, the headless woman. tapi sayangnya gw blm beli2 tiketnya soalnya jam stengah 10 malem sih mainnya. rada berat jg brgktnya. hehe.
klo gw sih dulu di bandung ada toko namanya mondo video. isinya kopian2 tapi bagus2 bgt. gw nemu cul-de-sac, l’age d’or disitu. tp skrg udh tutup. kurang laku. klo skrg sih kbnykn rental di subtitles. hehe.
wah gw kmaren nge-jiffest, nonton terribly happy, lumayan, kalo kata bung kunam88 agak2 mirip coens, klo gw ngerasa agak2 ngelynch, feel noirnya mirip, seneng lah nontonnya.,
hmm, setuju sama bung kunam88 soal link rare film, tp klo mau versi lebih lengkap yang bener2 rare, kesini aja :
http://www.kaskus.us/showthread.php?t=2546919
gila tuh orang koleksinya..
ngmg2, ada yang nonton cin[t]a ga tadi?
tau nih Headless woman pake jam setengah 10 dah,.susah kalo ga ada tebengan jdnya. padahal paling Most Wanted gw di JIFFEST taun ini nih…terpaksa nonton di DVD aja deh ni kyknya,.
yoi Terribly Happy emang Coens bgt kalo menurut gw,.atmosfernya mirip2 Blood Simple…ga taunya pas browsing,sutradaranya emang ternyata julukannya “danish coen brothers” haha.pantesan.
gw kmrn jg jiffest, kok ga ktmu dah kita? gw ntn mammoth. bnyk yg ga suka ya ama tuh film? gw sih suka tapi. udh kaya ditampar gw ama tuh film.
wah, cin(t)a film panjang ga bagus klo mnurut gw. kopong. mendingan cin(t)a yg film pendek.
@rajivibrahim itu link yg elo kasih, kok gw ga bisa donlot list filmnya ya?
@ RENO NISMARA
elo kmaren ke JIFFEST jam brapa?gw yg paling malem ,.dari kampus udah malem soalnya,.jd kagak keburu dah tuh mammoth.,Modysoon gw blom ada yg nonton nih padahal atupun.,
ahaha lapaknya om yukiyuki mampir di mari…
gw mo mesen film2nya Tarkovsky tuh di situ…
@kunam88
wah pantesan gw kurang dapet coens nya, blm ntn blood simple nih, lagian coens kan identiknya sama black comedynya
@renonismara
bisa kok yang rapid, tapi bintangnya diilangin., klo ga bisa juga ntar gw kirim aja klo mau lo.,
@rianpoulain
hahaha, tau juga lo, pesen aja, gw aja udh beli stalker sm dia, mantep bgt..
Hallo semua!
FYI, ada film bagus apa ya akhir2 ini? Anyway ada yg udah nonton Moon (2009), bikinannya Duncan Jones anaknya David Bowie? Itu keren bgt filmnya, the best movie of 2009 me thinks. Dan, udah ada yang nonton Primer (2004) juga blom?
Salam kenal!
Sorry to interject, but have you guys gotten the chance to see Jermal? One of my favorite movies of the year and also an Indonesian one.
@CHROMERAGNAROK
hallo,.salam kenal juga ! gw udah nonton tuh Moon,iya bagus,.soalnya beda dari film2 sci-fi kebanyakan yg ngandelin efek sama action doang.,Primer juga udah,tp pusing gw nontonnya.ngebingungin bgt ceritanya
@JOSHUA W
well,i still didn’t have the chance to see Jermal man,since it got a very limited release (both in the number of theater,and the longetivity in the theater),.its mostly the case here,.whenever good films didn’t get the marketing they deserved,.and yet many junk getting release and become a hit box office
if you’re into indonesian films,i suggest you try :
The Forbidden Door
The Rainbow Troops
Fiksi (i didn’t know what the english title would be)
Blind Pig Who Wants To Fly
I saw Forbidden Door as well, and while I really liked it, I thought the ending was a little trite for my tastes. Still a good movie.
@JOSHUA W
Yeah, Forbidden Door ending was a little bit ‘meh’, but I still love the overall movie. Haven’t seen Jermal yet, gonna look for it in a nearby video store, thanks for recommending it!
@chromeragnarok
wah, moon bagus bgt juga mnurut gw. best film of 2009? still too early to say that don’t you think? maybe one of the best up until now. but sam rockwell surely gave us a tour de force performance, eh? and as for primer, it’s a great mindfuck for the brain. no wonder it won sundance.
@joshua w
i have seen jermal. it’s a great and powerful indonesian film. it has a deep indonesia feeling in it, thanks to the beautiful cinematography. didi petet acted wonderfully in the film, don’t you think? and as for the forbidden door, yes the ending kinda ruins it. but that won’t change my decision to love this film. the unforgettable christmas dinner scene, anyone?
@kunam88
where’s garin nugroho’s daun di atas bantal (leaf above pillow)? as far as i’m concerned, that’s the only indonesian film that has ever screened at cannes film festival. the actress who acted in the film, christine hakim, became the only indonesian that has ever be a jury at cannes a few years later. it’s a great indonesian film that can educate the audience about the conditions in indonesia.
here’s a good news for us indonesian and the people who loves the forbidden door:
the forbidden door has been chosen as one of the best films in the year 2009 by a well respected magazine sight and sound.
anybody got the chance to watch jamila and the president? is it good? it’s indonesia’s official entry for 2010 oscar’s best foreign language.
Chromeragnarok – Yeah, the whole ending almost ruined it for me, but I think I’ll buy it on dvd and stop just when he raises his glass to the dead. That would’ve been the perfect end point, I believe.
Reno Nismara – Jermal was certainly powerful, emotionally and aesthetically. All of the acting was pretty solid, with a few standouts including Petet. The cinematography was top notch and the tone was just perfection. I’d like to see it get added to the Auteurs database.
@JOSHUA W
I agree on that too, that was the most powerful scene in the whole movie, I’d like to compare Albar’s performance in that particular scene to Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight.
@RENO NISMARA
Yeah, but with 2009 ending in a couple of days, I’m pretty sure that it’s gonna be the best. Anyway, 2009 was blessed with so many good movies such as Milk, The Reader, Synecdoche New York, you name it.
well,.now can’t wait to Anwar’s next project,then.,
as for this year’s best,i still put my money on Inglourious Basterds.,one hell of a fun flick from tarantino it is !
talkin about this year’s best movie, it’s like talkin about disappointment for me, as i haven’t seen one that really pleased me, and the new film from two of my fave director, shutter island and the tree of life, has been pushed to release in 2010, and my fave european director, tom tykwer, hugely disappoint me with taking a typical hollywood project this year.,
but i still have my faith in this year with the likes of ‘the serious man’, ‘the road’ and ‘up in the air’ are still on the line..
yeah,gotta agree with your statement,mate.at this point,there’s still no single movie that worth a full 5 stars,.even Basterds still have some flaws,and in my opinion,no tarantino’s best.
As for me,i still looking forward for Peter jackson’s The Lovely Bones,and the one that could be this decade best eyes pleaser, Nine (gorgeus Cotillard,Penelope,and Kidman in one screen,and Day Lewis?i’m 100 % in)
@chromeragnarok
ah, synecdoche new york. a film where life imitates art imitates life. that’s one of the best film of 2009 for sure. unfortunately, it wasn’t released on oscar season. that film should appear on many oscar nominations, including best picture, best actor, best director, best original screenplay, and best cinematography. but i won’t get my hopes up.
yes, hopefully a coens film, another cormac mccarthy adaptation, and a film by jason reitman could raise 2009 to another level. eh, kirimin gw listnya dong, jip. kaga bisa gw kmrn mau nyoba donlot.
@kunam88
basterds is surely not his best. for me, it’s his third best after pulp and reservoir, which are impossible to match. i surely can’t wait for nine. it’s kind of a remake to fellini’s 8 1/2 right? and 8 1/2, in my and many people opinions, is one of the finest film of all time. but that could be a boomerang for the film as the audience will surely compare it to 8 1/2.
not to mention, spike jonze’s where the wild things are. i’m waiting for that film to come out since years ago. and then, it got canceled. hopefully, it won’t disappoint me when it come out in indonesia. i got an idea! why don’t we watch that film together at a cinema, eh? sounds nice, doesn’t it? you all located in jakarta, right?
well,that sounds like a cool idea you got there,reno.,yeah,why don’t we watch something together once a while,.and shared our opinion for a cup of coffee latter.,and yeah i agree,Nine could have a big backslash,knowing that its a remake of a masterpiece classic (i hope it didn’t end up like Guy Ritchie’s Swept Away !)buruan beli dari yuki itu,ntar gw pinjem
@reno nismara
yeah it sounds nice to me, well, anyone?
nonbar yah..?
ngikut…. :ngacir2
tapi ane masih cupu nih ilmu pelem2nya.. masih newbie.. gpp kan?
@Reno
Yea that sounds good, hopefully i’d be still in town, and please make it weekends yea? haha. Anyway, are you a fan of Spike Jonze as well? Have you seen Adaptation? Thats a really wonderful movie, it shares the same self-referential theme with Being John Malkovich and Synecdoche New York. It’s the only movie that writes itself.
wihiii, it’s going to be great, guys! anyone got an info of when the film will be played in jakarta?
@chromeragnarok
of course, that’s a great film. but i think spike jonze should thank charlie kaufman for his career, don’t you think?
Andhika Eka Buana
halooo to all auteurs members from indonesia,.maybe we could talk in here…
