Feng gui lai de ren.
Here’s another thread about this, with suggestions.
I say start with his early youth films if you have access to them, but they’re usually harder to find. A Summer at Grandpa’s is my personal favourite film from him. A Time to Live and a Time to Die is another great one.
Although I do admire his more recent efforts, they don’t have the same impact on me personally compared to his earlier films about youth, or his amazing Taiwan trilogy.
I love that period in Triple H’s career when he made Boys from Fengkuei, A Summer at Grandpa, A Time to live and A Time to Die, and Dust in the Wind. Even though I feel that Puppetmaster might be his most accomplished work, on the whole, I prefer his 3 films about youth (can be considered a loose trilogy, no?) to his Taiwan trilogy.
P.S. Oh, god, and how those youth films of his make me weep like a little girl…

Where should I start? I think I have access to most of his films, so that shouldn’t be an issue.
