Iron and Wine is pretty good, but his music’s not very varied.
I love Iron and Wine, he is one of my favorites. “The Sheppard’s Dog” is a classic to me. His first two were great but like Jirin said, a little samey overall. Can’t wait to pick up his new album in January. Absolutely fantastic live as well, I’ve seen him twice. His performance at Bonnaroo was amazing, it was a sight to see thousands of people relaxed on the grass at his show. I think I remember him even telling everyone to sit down and mellow out.
The collaborations with Calexico are certainly varied; check out “In the Reins.” I saw them play together at Webster Hall in Manhattan on a brisk December night. Fantastic show. And, although he’s most known for his acoustic prowess, he plays electric quite solidly,
I like Iron and Wine :)
He has good taste in film, too. Dig is music. Not the biggest fan, but I have a few of his songs.
‘Die’ is my favorite, from Dark Was The Night.

I discovered this guy through his Criterion top 10 list and was absolutely mesmerized by his music.
Anybody listen to him? His choices were pretty good… he reminds me of Elliott Smith to some extent.
