It so happens to be a masterpiece.
It’s sad that the new silent cinema carries with it such unnecessary provocation. Festival screenings of this film were disastrous for reasons which escape me.
I’ve seen it. It’s sort of a Tsai’s greatest hits in that there’s plenty of references to his other films, most of all What Time Is It There? It’s also his most visually impressive film yet.
I’m a bit weary to see it. I’ve heard reviews for the film have been very poor.

Yes, I think that is a good way to describe these new films-as “the new silent cinema.”
Other films that come to mind are Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s and I would even argue Jarmusch’s latest film.
