Is Glenn Close's character Pattey Hewes (Damages - tv show) an homage to Streep's Miranda Priestly in Prada or am I carzy?

Both incredibly gorgeous, ruthless, connivng bosses of high-powered companies with lots of “little people” running around them and taking care of business. Granted, Patty Hewes would probably kill to get what she wants. I’m not sure that Miranda would go that far.
