Japeman's TV Corner: 2012-2013 upfronts!!!!!

JapeMan

It’s that time of year again. Let’s discuss this year’s Upfronts here!!!!!

NBC cancelled Awake, Harry’s Law and a lot of reality shows and ordered final seasons of Community (which they are pairing on Fridays with…. Wait for it…. Whitney) and 30 Rock

The Hannibal Lecter tv show is set up for midseason and the network has ordered other high profile shows (mostly sitcoms as well as a Dick Wolf firefighter drama and a JJ Abrams drama called Revolution)

Grimm and Smash will return for second seasons and NBC has also ordered 1600 Penn, starring Bill Pullman, for midseason.

Thoughts?

Awake is dead? :(

The next season of Community isn’t necassarily the last one. (Though it could very well be).

Yep Awake was canned

Ratings-wise, it was A LOT lower than Harry’s Law and both shows were axed

@Rock

Let’s face it: they are putting it on Friday nights after what is definitely the worst show on the network (Whitney)….. Yeah, they are definitely putting Community down. How can it survive both Fridays AND a terrible lead-in?

Sorry, just speaking the truth

I love Community

Yeah, but I think that they can hold close to the same amount of ratings on Friday, as the only people watching it are basically the die-hard fans. And it’s current timeslot is already awful. So I think it has a chance. However, I would actually be fine if they ended it on the fourth year, as long as they were given time to wrap up the story.

not a Community fan, though i’ve seen every episode (my girlfriend loves it and i keep giving it chances) but even with the die-hard community, it’s not gonna get the ratings it needs in that slot to survive. Most die-hards don’t even watch it in it’s regular slot with the Thursday line-up; they watch it online, DVR it, or other means.

Has there been any news on NBC’s Parks and Recreation? Last I checked NBC had not decided what to do with it.

NBC picked up another season of Parks and Recreation. It’s just about ready to go into syndication too

So get some chikky chikky parm parm, made with pre-birds and eat that chikky chikky parm parm (and, if you want, chikky catch) with your food rakes.

And remember to stop by Tommy’s Place when your done, Anne Perkins ;)

(is anyone whose not a p&r fan going to get those above references? lol)

Oh god, they’re putting Community together with Whitney?

They’re putting the smartest show on their network with the dumbest show on their network? What the hell are they showing in the Thursday block, Up All Night? Moreover, I now have to watch commercials for Whitney during Community?!

I heard the creator of the show is leaving, so it might not be as good anymore anyway.

the only possible reason for keeping Whitney was to be in Cumming’s good graces when she decides to create something else.

CBS was smart picking up her other show Two Broke Girls

Can’t find the latest on HBO’s Enlightened Season 2?!?
