Back in the day, Jerry Lewis was a Jerry Lewis cartoon. But I like your idea.
I remember liking the Martin-Lewis films when I was a kid.
Yes he sure was Matt. I think if someone took all the best Jerry Lewis films and animated them kids would love them, same with Shirley Temple. Many kids like these films anyway but a fair amount stay away cause they are so old looking as non animated features
I don’t know if animating them would do the trick, especially Temple. I think her screen persona was crucial to the popularity of her films.
you are probably right jazz.
Just wishful thinking I would like if my kids were into Temple and Marx Brothers
Did you ever show them the films? (How old are they?) I got into the Marx Brothers when I was nine or so (and I mainly liked mainstream films).
oh I do not have kids yet, just an idea of the stuff I would want them to be into I am starting to sound like Michael Jackson talking about his dolls in that Martin Basheir interview….
next question PLEASE
Yeah, I think so too, Den. And of course a few of the best Lewis films were directed by Frank Tashlin, who came from an animation background. I wonder if they could just go back and rotoscope them.
Good call on that I forgot about Tashlin.
Maybe he could redo The Clown Who Cried as a cartoon(:
bump
Jerry had a Saturday morning cartoon and a long-lasting comic book.
hmm did not know about the comic, seems he has a live action movie in the works at the moment.
“Artists and Models” — Frank Tashlin’s gret Martin & Lewis comedy, has Jerry as a man(boy) obsessed with comic books. So it’s only a step away from animation.
Jerry often behaves like an animated cartoon character. In “The Nutty Porfessor” he even gets his body stretched out like Wile E. Coyote of Donal Duck.
I missed this thread so i bumped it
I seem to remember you saying you hate the show, Den, but “Family Guy” actuall refers to Lewis quite a bit. This was perhaps the pinnacle:

Jerry Lewis is past 80. I love his films and I see glimpses of old Jerry on his wonderful (not for content but for it purpose) telethons.
Lately Jerry Lewis has been voicing animated films. The Nutty Professor 2, a direct sequel that had Jerry playing his old character, a grandfather now, was made a few years back. It had potential but was too earnest and did not go for any laughs, a huge disappointment.

Just a few weeks ago Curious George 2 was released and reviews are not kind.Someone get this man to pixar, a jerry lewis cartoon should be an ideal propostion.
