I dwell below the Macy-Dixie line too.
I’m in NC also

Oklahoma is alternately listed as part of the South or the Midwest. For the purpose of this thread, I’m going to declare southern heritage and join up with you fine folks. I reserve the right to join the midwesterners at a later time however if their group has women and better food.
i’m from Florida, but I just started posting.
Oklahoma has the highest percentage of citizens who voted for McCain, Jay.
It’s in the South.
Brandon:
Some of us down here decline to participate in anything so vulgar as an election.
Not only that, but in November I had just received via FedEx new DVDs of THE LOVED ONE, PSYCHO, BURDEN OF DREAMS, AND MURDER MY SWEET.
Which candidate, on which planet, would pull me away from that?
So anyway, call me when Tim Burton or Wes Anderson is running for office.
Culturally, I would agree with that, Brandon. I’m not happy about that but it’s true. It is often listed as part of the midwest however. One instance is when USA Today ranks the high school football teams by region, it always lists Oklahoma schools in the midwest. A number of other sports leagues and charities lump us together with states to the north under a midwest banner and it’s often not listed as part of the South because it wasn’t a confederate state (it was Indian territory at the time) and it’s not south of (what’s generally considered) the Mason-Dixon line. It does arguably have more in common with the South than anywhere else and certainly votes that way.
That wasn’t an attack on any individual, Doc, far from it. If you post on these threads, chances are you’re an extremely intelligent human being and passionate lover of cinema, no matter where you live.
I was merely stating a general fact about a particular area, and about the majority around you.
Thank you for clarifying, but I wasn’t taking offense at your comment, Brandon.
I was simply derogating politics and elevating cinema (it’s a hobby). I was about to say that if everyone were making movies instead of voting for politicians, there would be no wars.
But having worked for two directors, one associate producer, and one casting company, I know that’s not true.
There would be more wars, and they would be a lot more expensive.
But the explosions would be cooler looking, doc, and in slow motion.
Swords would also probably be involved, which modern warfare needs more of.

And perhaps the wars wouldn’t linger if they didn’t make any money. This is starting to sound like Wag the Dog!

I have been looking at the “Where are you from?” post and am curious if I’m the only southerner on here? I have to say I really don’t know anyone else around here interested in cinema and was hoping to see somrone else from NC. I found it interesting yet not surprising that no one else even remotely close to me post on here, as far as I know.
