Just watched this movie last night., it was so good. It really resonates with human folly, especially the first tale. Very well done.
Please note: The Criterion version is not uncut, it is missing twenty plus minutes.
The Masters of Cinema version is uncut, no?
do you know which versions aren’t cut?
>The Masters of Cinema version is uncut, no?
Positive. Besides, the Criterion edition is also renowned for its unforgivable image manipulations.
So where can you get the uncut version?
The Masters of Cinema release is uncut. I have not seen Kwaidan but I only wish to see it in it’s uncut format. Criterion needs to reissue this film.
Mastersofcinema.com
or is it .org
The Masters of Cinema website, Berjuan. Or, I would imagine Amazon might have it.
Thank you Soybean!
this site is like a cooler Criterion.. and Kokoro is a movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was just thinking about that book this morning!
I’ve seen the Criterion version and on the special features they have a preview for the film, and on that preview they show scenes that were not on the film. I was going to buy this during the Criterion sale last month, but it didn’t get delivered to the store on time. I was upset but now Im not.
Haoichi the earless is on the cover jeje
They have a very extensive comparison of the 3 versions on this site
What do you guys think?
I like the strong colors in the middle one.
I think Criterion needs to re-release Kwaidan. I don’t want to watch a cut version and from what people say about it’s visuals it needs a clear crisp image.
