A Serious Man
The Coen’s have finally committed themselves to the Theatre of the Absurd. Sit back, relax and enjoy. You probably won’t truly discover how hilarious it is until you start talking about it on your way home. And talk about it you will!

The Messenger 3/4 – Good performances, Woody Harrelson is a hoot as always, but it felt like there was something missing from this film. The direction was pretty uninspiring and while the subject matter is riveting, not much is done with it.
Le Samourai(1967,Jean-Pierre Melville)-9/10
More than a great crime-film,this movie is a unique existential drama, with Alain Delon giving his ultimate performance. One of the greatest depictions of solitude in a motion picture I’ve ever seen.

Bought and watched Jackie Brown for the second time. Tarantino’s best fiml I’d say.
Der Freie Wille (Matthias Glasner)
Probably the best film based around the subject of rape & it’s aftermaths I’ve ever seen. Terrific performances by Jürgen Vogel & Sabine Timoteo. Extremely effective and well done.
Cirque de Freak: The Vampires Assistant 3/5
Yes, I know this is not common autuer fair, but it was suprisingly entertaining. A friend of mine wanted to go even though I was skeptical and expecting a dud; but it was actually pretty good. Not amazing or life changing, but pretty good.

American Casino - 7/10 A somewhat dry look at the workings of derivatives. If you view the American economic engine as a big roulette wheel with Alan Greenspan passing out plent of inexpensive chips for the players, this little documentary will reinforce the view.

Uhhhh, I hope that was for a woman, KJ.

Someone here is not a fan of Wong Kar-wai, and I want to know, ahem, wai. I can understand the vitriol for My Blueberry Nights, but In the Mood For Love is genius…

if it wasnt to submit myself to something so terrible just for the fun of it, then 2/10.
thats one of those movies thats so bad that ill remember it forever.
KJ…some movies are really bad just from the trailer, huh?
Fredo, my girlfriend was able to get out of work at a decent hour for once, and we thought it would be fun to just see something mindless and amusing. So we figured “Zombieland” would fit the bill. When we got to the theater we find that movie had been bumped for some special showing of something else. It was a particularly nasty night. Rain had started and it was cold. We look at the schedule and there is nothing else we want to see. Nothing. Neither one of us wanted to go back out into the pissing rain, so we shrug it off and choose “Cirque”. Lame. It wasn’t even remotely scary. It was just lame. The lead kid was pure vanilla. Man, I just don’t know. What I want to know is how did this Weitz fellow manage to get Reilly, Dafoe, Watanabe and Hayek to do this? Is he related to someone with juice? I mean, really. I have to say, Reilly was fun, though. I also liked Michael Cerveris. He does a great ghoul. Calling David Lynch!
Dimitris, the trailer makes this shit look good.
Oh yeah, any of you guys wondering who should play the Judge in “Blood Meridian”, if that ever happens, Michael Cerveris is the answer.
Gran Torino 4/5

Masterpiece.
La Mariee etait en noir (1968)
Dir Truffaut
A poor Hitchcock homage. Lacking suspense, and enough plotholes to sink a battleship. Twists in the plot were so obviously signposted it was almost pointless watching the last half hour. Hermann’s score is almost Vertigo verbatim! And maybe I don’t get it, but is Truffaut’s misogeny meant to be ironic?
