That film has a lot of great individual scenes.
The best has to be the fireworks!
I saw it several years ago during Seattle’s International Film Festival. It was shown on our city’s largest screen, the Cinerama! That was my introduction to Leos Carax. Since then, in one of our smallest cinemas, I saw a double bill of “Boy Meets Girl” and " Mauvais Sang". I want to see “Pola X”.
Besides the filmmaking itself, Legend Mythie Singer, were you impressed by the lead actors? Binoche is an international star, as you probably know. Denis Lavant, though, is somewhat less known. If you haven’t already, you might enjoy him (and the filmmaking) in Claire Denis’ “Beau Travail”. Like “Lovers on a Bridge”, this one also ends in a burst of fireworks, but of the dancing variety.
It really deserves to be seen on the largest screen imaginable.
The greatest tirbute a filmmaker ever made to his girlfriend, three film production companies died on the way to making this masterpiece. And when it was over so were Leos and Juliette.
Binoche:
“Lovers taught me to choose life over art; I had to touch my limits. It was tough physically and emotionally, and I had to say, I have a choice. I can give—to a point—but life is more important. It took two and a half years to make, and we all emerged a bit broken, but aware that we had stayed the course. Perhaps we could have made it with less pain. Yet it remains a milestone in cinema, and means a lot to many.”
Life over art. Well stated. When i saw this picture I was dated somebody and our relationship pretty much reflected the picture.
I am learning not to be so heavy and intence and just lighten up and enjoy the moment.
Legend Sincere
I saw this in the theatre. Has anyone else and I mean anyone or anybody seen or heard of this picture? This one is HEAVY!
