maurice pialat and editing

I have always found the use of extreme elliptical editing by pialat fascinating. the emotional currency of his narratives was deemed of greater importance then continuity, the great leaps in time that occur as a result are pleasantly startling.

I think a great example of Pialats editing technique is greatly illustrated in Nous Ne Villierons Pas Ensemble. I think without the traditional Pialat composition and of course his comand of his actors, this film would be just like any relationship drama.
