If I was forced to choose just one it would be Metropolis. An even better choice would be both!
Metropolis for sure. Though my favourite sci fi film is another film which came from the 80s. That’s right, my favourite scifi film of all time is BRAZIL.
I like both, but Blade Runner for sure.
As an owner of the Briefcase release on DVD then rebuying the 5 disc release for bluray of Blade Runner while also just recently coming into possession of the restored transfer of Metropolis in dual formats. I still think this question is ridiculous.
thank you SMOKEYPSD.

I’d go with Blade Runner.
Metropolis has a lot of great imagery. Other than that, I don’t particularly care for it. The characterization is a little one dimensional and the solutions way too simplistic, and a lot of the characters’ reactions to things not entirely believable. Metropolis is more influential and important in the history of cinema, but Blade Runner tells a better story and analyzes its philosophy a lot better.
