Emilio Fernandez’ Víctimas del pecado. American melodrama simmers- Fernandez boils his until there’s nothing left but coffee grounds. The film is full of pimps, whores, murder, prison, abandoned babies- but that’s not preventing Fernandez from stopping down every five minutes for a hot Cuban musical number. He makes even The Archers look tame in comparison to the way he throws the kitchen sink, the phone book, the Bible, and the Virgen de Guadalupe into any scene to make it that much more emotional.
“El Indio” has some pretty nice movies like Islas Marias with Pedro Infante. Thank you, Tex

Have you ever notice how the audio in these films seems to be REALLY recorded in a sound booth?
One would imagine that as the characters on screen are acting out the film they are also lip syncing to their dialogues as well :)
Do you have a favorite “Fichera” film? I know mine is “3 Lancheros Muy Picudos”
