Nice! Haneke has never disappointed me, but this one seems different.
This means we actually have a chance of seeing this film in wide distribution.
Didn’ẗ both The Piano Teacher and Caché recieve quite wide theatrical distribution?
Could always be better.
Of course it won’t get “wide” distribution, but a nice run throughout major U.S. cities from Sony Pictures Classics, just like Cache did. Even in France and Germany its run will not be as wide as your average Hollywood blockbuster. Just the reality of the entertainment cartel system.
I’m a stay-at-home in Maryland, but I travel to Philadelphia to see as many Hanekes as I can!

haha well hopefully Nashville’s Belcourt theatre will pick it up and I’ll get to check it out. “Funny Games” made a strong impact on me so I’m behind anything he does now
So anyone seen this film yet ?
I reserve judgement; beautifully shot but inconclusive. Any opinions ?
Quite a few peeps have seen the film if I recall. I myself think it’s up there with Cache and Seventh Continent in terms of greatness. Highly enjoyable, and garners many similarities to Dreyer’s Ordet, which in my eyes, Haneke took, spun on it’s head, and made his own. I’m not saying it’s any better or worse, they just have similar traits.
It’s a wonderful film, and easily my favorite film of the year. I’ll be seeing it again this week, so I’ll be able to go into it a lot more. (Going off a 3 month memory doesn’t do the film justice.)
Sublime , but close to the inexplicable in its entirety—well worth seeing—one of year’s 3 best films.
