Go Yankees!! they beat TB without a starting pitcher in the fist game of dbl header.
Why-o-why can’t the Sox beat TB?
Beckett has not pitched 8 innings since July 17th and Tito is keeping him in @4:4
This could be the Grady Little moment for Tito.
Yup – 6 runs charged to Beckett in 7 1/3 innings.
from Sportscenter: Overheard after the Red Sox game (directed at the Sox) following a Jimi Hendrix song: “Jimi Hendrix has more life than you do!”
St. Louis is only 1.5 behind Atlanta for the NL Wild Card
Talk today was about GM Theo’s unbelievably bad free agency deals and that Manger Tito might be gone.
Last night was the last home game of the season and the Sox were booed off the field.
They are saying this could be the worst collapse in baseball history if the Sox don’t get the wild card.
Hard for me to think of a wildcard-race as best/worst anything, but I’m sure it’s different up in the Nation, and ESPN will play up any biggest/best/worst angle they can find. . Not sure Theo and/or Francona could have done much of anything to keep the pitching staff healthy. What’s the perceived beef with Francona? That he’s too much of a "player’s manager?
“Why-o-why can’t the Sox beat TB?”
The Rays staff has a better “OPS against” than Boston’s staff. And Jennings has been a nice jolt for Tampa Bay’s lineup.
It is Epstein’s fault for paying and trading heavily for free agents. In 2009 he traded away the minor league pitchers for Martinez.
But it will be Francona who will get fired. Unless we get in and win.
Not sure the Rays can win enough games when they’re NOT playing against Boston to get in.
GO DBACKS!!!!!!
yeah i know it’s a long shot but at the least they’ll get a taste

Ah, Sox vs Yankees in September……
Papelbon strikeouts out Austin Romine with the bases loaded in the ninth. Ellsbury hits two-out, three-run homer in the 14th inning, afterwhich Felix Doubront pitches a 1-2-3 final at-bat for the Yankees in their last home game of the regular season.
5-hours and 11-minutes of what it is all about….
4-2 Rays, bottom of the 6th.

I have a good friend who is a major Braves fan. Bummer.
if the bosox don’t get the wildcard i will effing flip, this is god damn ridiculous
Ugh…. tied two games to go.
Like a fight where they have to go to the cards.
my beloved Nationals may end up at .500
it has all been worth it.
My lineup for tonight’s last game against B-MO:
Papelbon – stop the first inning run up
Lester – plenty of rest
Beckett – who cares how rested he is – we only need 2 innings
Bard
Aceves
Only need 2 innings from each !
Wonder who the Yankees will start against the Rays tonight.
It all comes down to one game, and Atlanta gets Philly, while St. Louis gets Houston.
Do they want to meet the Rays in the playoffs having been swept in the last three games by the Rays?
I think they want to kick the shit out of them in this final game…..
I’m sure they’ll put the bats out there, but they haven’t named a starting pitcher. Girardi: “Well, I know who I can’t start,” he said. “I can’t start A.J. and I can’t start Freddy and I can’t start Bart and I can’t start CC. But we’ll figure it out. I will have a starter by 7:10.”
Wow . . . it really happened.
Yankees were up 7-0 thru the 7th – haha now Sox fans will be cheering the Rays if they meet the bastard Yankees.
The 3rd base coach better stay off the streets for awhile.

Not as much talk about the Braves’ collapse, because the NL east isn’t as sexy as the AL east…but good grief! Too bad Atlanta got saddled with the Phils for their last series and the Cards were given one of the worst teams in baseball. Tough noogies.
Yeah, the Cards got a huge break. Now they too get the Phillies, though.
So there was a big rumor that Theo was interested in the Cubs GM, speculation now is that he can’t leave the Sox on such a sour note.
Wow. Matt Moore, in his 2nd-ever major league start, throw seven innings of two-hit ball. 9-0.

The rotation is killing the bullpen, just like last year.
