Aurthur 2, Constatine and Hellboy 2
In the middle of CHILDREN OF PARADISE at a revival house (now defunct) on Bleecker Street in NYC circa 1978. But then I’d come from a long afternoon of boozing at the Lion’s Head (also now defunct) and it wasn’t “falling asleep” exactly, it was passing out. My companion was none too happy that evening. A great film though film. No doubt.
Perhaps Chronicles of Narnia… but I think I was on drugs.
Oh, and El Topo for a midnight screening. Maybe also on drugs?
Sokarov’s Mother and Son. But I had gone after work and I was horribly tired. I kept nodding off and jerking awake. I would have been quite embarrassed if I had someone sitting beside me, but as it was an art film, as you can imagine, the house was nearly empty. I went back to see it again in a fully rested state.
EQUUS
Richard Burton’s monologues put me right out
EXCALIBUR
Once Merlin is put into stasis (or whatever it is) and Nicol Williamson’s eccentric characterization disappears from the film, it just isn’t all that interesting.
Never, never, never…
Only once for me. The movie was Kazaam, starring Shaquille O’Neal. I was eleven.
Yes!!!!! I did,
INTOLERANCIA was probably the most borring movie i ever seen!!!
I not only felt asleep watching it at home in VHS but had to turn it off ones i woke up
e.
Only once. Cronenberg’s Spider. Not his fault, as I was medicated.
I paid for the movie, so I have to stay awake to watch it, no matter how bad or boring it is.
Yeah, movies can be boring and unbearable.
Fell asleep during:
TOUCHEZ PAS AU GRISBI
REQUIEM FOR A DREAM (I seem to remember falling asleep, but I can’t really remember, but it’s possible).
STRIKE (I’ve watched it again since and really like it)
THE LION KING
I fell asleep a lot during my film classes in college, but I think that had more to do with being exhausted than with the films (STRIKE being one example).
Twice, I’m afraid—once during EASY RIDER, and I don’t think I missed very much, and during the last few minutes of BICYCLE THIEVES in my film history class, which I’m badly ashamed of.
Pirates of the Carribean 2 and two of the Harry Potter series(can’t remember which ones)
I dozed off for a bit, somewhere in the middle of There Will Be Blood. it was one of those situations where I was up real late the night before and really wanting to this on the opening night. I thoroughly enjoyed it the second time though.
I dozed off somewhere in the middle of There Will Be Blood. I’m pretty sure I was up late the night before, but still wanted to see it real bad the following day. I thoroughly enjoyed it the second time.
almost dozed off recently during “Repo: The Genetic Opera” which was ironic since I was the one who wanted to see it out of the party of people I went with.
I have a problem falling asleep during movies. It really sucks because I even fall asleep during good movies. I’ve fallen asleep at the theater 3 times, Star Wars Episode 3, Dark Knight, and Tropic Thunder. But those movies weren’t good. I usually fall asleep at home watching movies.
The Bridges of Madison County. Not that I did not like the film, I loved it. But during one of the more intimate scenes between Clint and Meryl I relaxed myself to a nice nap. Woke up after a few minutes.
That’s the strangest sensation, when you doze for a minute or so and then wake up and it’s a totally different scene. Sometimes I’ve woven in and out of dreams and films like that. One of those surreal things that can’t be reenacted.
John Huston’s The Dead
But I was 10 years old… maybe I should give it another chance now that it’s been 22 years? Would anyone recommend it?
Not fallen asleep, no. I have almost wet my pants. I had to get up and leave halfway through the movie “Bug” (no great loss there). I forgot to pee-pee on my way in, and once the movie started I was sealed into my row on either side with other people I didn’t want to disturb. I held it for about 45 minutes but then ended up climbing over the back of my seat and running out. After that, I didn’t really want to go back in and face them so I just went home.
I eventually saw the ending of “Bug,” and I liked the play much better.
Yes. The second time I say Quantum of Solace.
Please don’t ask me why it was the second time either. It should be self explanatory why I fell asleep. I suppose.
I fall asleep all the time. I love films that put me to sleep, it means the film was nice enough to leave me alone and catch up on some rest. I’m also thinking even if it’s a rare screening of a film, I’m still going to get another opportunity to see it again, sometime in the future, and it happens all the time.
For me, falling asleep is part of the experience. The first to go are my eyes, but I continue to listen to the film, the sounds travel into my subconscious, and I dream…sometimes it’s a different outcome for the film, sometimes something completely different that only subtly connected to the film. And these are the films I usually come back to, over and over. That feeling of coming back to a film, is like meeting someone again. I may fall asleep on the film on the second or third viewing but that’s the thing, if the film is interesting enough to come back to, I will. And even if I end up not liking the film after watching it completely awake, I can walk away with my own version that I can still replay in my head.
Not usually. If I’m that disinterested in the film, I’ll just walk out and go sleep in my comfy bed.
Having said that, I did nod off a couple times during Waltz with Bashir.
None in a theatre, but in the privacy of my own home…
Benjamin Button
Scanners
Brand Upon the Brain!
Citizen Kane
Goldfinger
Trainspotting
The Omen (remake and original)
The Hunchback of Notre Dame (30’s version)
Lawrence of Arabia
and on and on and on…
Yes—-Leatherheads——awful and boring movie.
Also once while watching my first viewing of Dog Day Afternoon, it was late and I was tired, please don’t kill me.
No . . . but I have fallen asleep while posting on these forums.
I made the mistake of watching Solaris with some pals when I was very tired (bad timing) and fell asleep on a table.
I fell asleep during Michael Clayton.
Girl bites pen
I feel asleep at the cinema during The Dark Knight actually.
The only other film I remember falling asleep at home with was ‘A Knight’s Tale’ – I’ve only just noticed the coincidence there…spooky.
