I think it should be a new requirement for future lists to answer the questions:
1. overrated by who?
2. why?
Ghost is so not overrated. MOLLY, YOU IN DANGER GIRL!
I love Ghost! I don’t think it was overrated.
crash(haggis) and everything made by sam mendes up to date…and WHY? haggis sucks, pretentious, and Crash is not even close to being a better film than broke back.. that’s why, and because American Beauty is boring, just like all of sam mendes’s movies..that’s why..
Whether it’s obvious or not (or, even though I almost completely agree with you) it does add a degree of intelligence when someone supports their argument instead of … not.
yeah it does, i’m with you on that one..even with all the sarcasm hehe
man you guys like to talk about things you don’t like a lot
I think Oopyman is overrated. Even Haggis wouldn’t touch such material.
hahaha!
Some recent Clint Eastwood gets far too much praise.
Slumdog Millionaire. God.
i like danny boyle… he’s a great director, a lot of people hated sunshine, but when i saw it in theaters man was i amazed…. awesome film…
Slumdog Millionare
Crash
Traffic
American Beauty
The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Titanic
Saving Privet Ryan
The Passion of the Christ
Well, you tried, Deckard.
And don’t we have multiple threads on this topic?
Talk about an over-rated subject …
I would argue that Cinderella Man is very underrated, but would strongly agree with Titanic. It is by no means a bad film, but I think Cameron’s efforts on Terminator 2 had a much stronger, efficient, and enjoyable result.
The Sixth Sense
The Lost Boys
The Spiderman films
oh…and The Searchers

The epics of David Lean: Lawrence of Arabia, Bridge Over the River Kwai, Dr. Zhivago, Ryan’s Daughter, and A Passage to India
Every last person who snipes at Spielberg’s grand vulgarity ought to keep in mind his fondness for and emulation of Lean’s stretch of…gross endeavors.
ok, I do have to agree that while Forrest Gump is a great and very memorable movie it is quite ovveratted, I mean…take this example; before I saw the movie people were chastising me because I had not seen it! Like I had committed some great crime, ok, I dont believe it is a crime if you have yet to see this film.
Scary Movie 3. That even a single person likes it makes it overrated. ’S lousy gobbidge!
Why do I feel as though this place is turning into Youtube…another out of order vending machine with pretty things that never come out into the open. It hurts me to think of mindless children ranting over scratch.
somebody actually thinks that The Searchers is overrated? Any recent Oscar movie is overrated. ie Crash. Benjamin Button was garbage and yes overrated. The Silence of the Lambs, A Beautiful MInd etc.
The Sixth Sense
Gladiator (2000)
The Dark Knight
The Maltese Falcon
for starters
wasn’t too impressed with Bladerunner to be quite honest (but I had high expectations)
The Searchers.
I can’t stand From Here To Eternity.
slumdog millionaire
what a hollow, dumb movie. by the end we are not taught anything about the characters or the slums or any great meaning other than you should hope to get incredibly lucky and coincidentally know everything you need to win on a game show. yeesh
yes, slumdog millionaire was definitely overrated. i thought city of god was way better. i do like danny boyle though; good director.
Gandhi by Richard Attenborough

GROSS ENDEAVORS? Pull yourself together. Do you have EYES? EARS? If so, please begin using them. If you think these are gross endeavors perhaps you should look at your life and contemplate what type of endeavor that is. I can’t imagine that it’s anything as beautiful as those five works of art.
Hey Agee I’ve read your bio and you sir have no EYES……… lotta nerve old man.
Aaron Dumont
Crash (Haggis)
In the Valley of Elah
Forrest Gump
Dances with Wolves
Ghosts (with Patrick Swayze)
American Beauty
Cinderella Man
Pride & Prejudice (2005)
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Any further additions?
