I was going to say the same thing. what’s the 3rd disc? mine’s only two.

my most prized criterion might be my copy of ROYAL TENENBAUMS. It’s the first dvd i even bought, and it sparked not only my interest in film but also my obsession with criterion.
I treasure all my collection, really, but if i had 10 seconds to choose five or so before i burned to death in a fire or something, i’d go with ROBOCOP, STRAW DOGS, RAN, CONTEMPT, and either HIGH AND LOW or ARMY OF SHADOWS. Christ, i’d die in the fire.

This is sort of like asking a parent with several children which one’s their favorite kid, but my answer would be:

Hitchcock’s Wrong Men and Notorious Women Box Set for it’s fiscal value.

Lindsay Anderson’s “If….”, personalized and signed by Malcolm McDowell, for it’s sentimental value.

I’d have to go with:
Hard Boiled
The Killer
Le Samourai
Seven Samurai
Yojimbo
Brazil

Someone please explain this 3 disc Breathless.?.

I have to admit to admiring some of my big box sets more than actually enjoying them.

I love to look at Five Films, Berlin Alexanderplatz, Monterey Pop, Bergman Trilogy, 3 Films by Louis Malle, and The Adventures of Antoine Doinel, but I still have a lot of watching to do.

In reality, my most treasured are Gimmer Shelter, Seven Samurai, Rushmore, and the 400 Blows. I sold my OOP dvds a while back for the $$$.

I have the complete collection and they are all quite meaningful. I’d hate to part with a single title.

most likely Seven Samurai (original release, not 3 disc), not for the film itself nor the release, rather because it is the first Criterion I ever purchased and possibly the catalyst to my Criterion obsession.

it’s gotta be my John Cassavetes boxset, with the tax, shipping and handling to my country, it costs me around US$ 140. But it’s worth every penny even when some Carney’s works are eliminated.

I only own six altogether all of which I’m happy to own. Having a huge DVD collection does not necessarily interest me. Here is what I own, however,

Contempt DVD (This one is somewhat prized, actually, since its out of print, and you can’t seem to find it anywhere. I won’t lie.)

Pierrot Le Fou DVD
L’Eclisse
L’Avventura
Le Cercle Rouge
Red Desert Blu Ray

probably Ran or the Third Man. But I hold Milkyway in high regard, also the science is fiction set.

My favorite is Fritz Lang’s M. I show it to everyone who wants to sit and watch a good movie.

As far as prized, I like them all just as Will C said because it has taken me years to build up a collection that any movie lover would appreciate. I have about 115 now and I love introducing people to classics that they have never even heard of before.
