Dead Alive
^ Cartoon
Deliverance is not as violent as other films, but it is about the violence within all of us. All it needs is a trigger.
Cannibal Holocaust
fake blood, or kicks and punchs, or even torture scene don’t scare me. I can remember that is fake, that I’m seeing a movie. Even Cannibal Holocaust..is disturbing, but is full of clichés, of ‘80 obsession, that I can watch it and be more interested about things like the (fake) documentary (is like Blair Witch Project, but years earlier).
Maybe it’s because I’m a woman, but the rape scene in Irreversible is the most disturbing I’ve ever seen in a movie. It’s so realistic that made me feel sick.
‘Nil by mouth’. Gary Oldman, ‘97.
’Base moi’. Virginie Despentes, ‘02
’Man bites dog’. Belvaux & Bonzel, ‘93
’Irreversible’ Gasper Noe, ‘02
’Calvaire’. Fabrice du Welz, ’04
Is it the catharsis, why I’m drawn to such films?
“Serbian Movie”.. It’s hardcore!
I always thought that True Romance was pretty violent, especially the fight scene in the motel room with Alabama and Gandolfini’s character Virgil. Very ‘over the top’
I can’t believe so many people said Irreversible… it was made to shock the bourgeoisie but it was not that violent. Compared to a serbian movie it was a unicorn made of candies!
“I’m cool as I have seen more violent films than thou” etc what a lame thread
“it was made to shock the bourgeoisie but it was not that violent.”
groans
man you’re touchy!
i’ve seen movies that are more violent than irreversible, but then so many people here must have seen more violent movies that i did considering i’m not a fan of italian horror/splatter and know almost nothing about it.
just saying that raping monica bellucci is not as violent as raping a baby. apart from the rape irreversible was not that violent. plus a serbian film is pretty new and i guess a lot of people have seen it.
By no means a great movie, even within the genre, but Ninja Assassin was super violent from the get-go. I’m usually fine with violence to a certain degree, but there was so damn much of it in this film, continually and unrelenting, that it actually churned my stomach…even though it was all computer generated.
also fist of the north star is the most violent film i’ve ever seen, lol
Why would any body want to see a film where a film where a baby is graphically raped?
yeah but how the hell do you top that, ahaha
Guinea Pig, Cannibal Holocaust and American History X, but just because of the scene in which Derek smash mouth and teeth of the black guy on the footpath…ghhhh.
By the way, i agree on what Nanaai said; Irreversible can be SHOCKING for the rape scene of course, but is not a REAL “violent movie” itself.
I found this list to be very knowledgeable:

The most revolting and merciless film has to be Dead Alive. The relentless amount of blood in that movie just makes me smile.
Hostel

Maybe it was Natural Born Killers… this movie is awesome but there is a lot of free violence, I don’t know exactly how to say it in English actually (in France we say “violence gratuite”).
and I find the Saw series really violent and useless btw, even if I wasn’t shocked by the 2 I saw.
there are also a Clockwork Orange, American History X, etc.
Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom is by far the most violent film ever made , any film where people are raped, fed nails and shit, and have their eyes and tongues cut out at the end gets my vote.
The guinea pig films are also pretty fucked up.
challenge anyone to find any films worse than these.
Serbian Movies
The flogging scene in Passion of the Christ is pretty disgustoid. When buddy gets his face caved in, in Irreversible and ofcourse the whole last 20-30 mins of Martyrs is pretty hard to stomach. Final minutes of Salo leave a bitter taste too.
Aren’t there Japanese torture porn films that are pretty bad too? I’ve never seen any of them…
House of Leaves
If no one has said Martyrs yet, then let it be said.
This isn’t a gore flick, or even really a horror flick. It’s fucking brutal, but it’s more than the sum of its parts.
And Irreversible.
Take those two and call me in the morning.
