Movies About Voluntary Isolation From Society?

Justin Stanley

Anyone know of any movies that deal with man in isolation (out in the wild) free from the constricts of society? I know Cast Away & Last Days, any others?

What about movies that condemn society or offer an interesting look on them (thinking David Lynch’s Blue Velvet)

Trying to pull some references together for a class.

Thanks!

Into the Wild, that was the whole point of the film, also maybe you could count Grizzly Man in there.

That one about the guy and the wolves. Never Cry Wolf, I think it was, with Charlie Martin Smith.

And Gorillas in the Mist, with Sigourney Weaver as Dian Fossey.

Both based on true stories.

How about something like Robinson Crusoe on Mars?

Pixar’s Up.

Lonely old man gets fed up with peeps trying to get all up in his HOUSE so he takes it somewhere else. The house, that is.

Edit: WEEIIIRDDD. When I just type “Up” by itself, with a full stop, it disappears from my post! Why?

Mubi and Me : The Dimitris Story

But that’s actually about involuntary isolation.
