My girlfriend rented American Teen from Netflix today and for the first time in a while, I had to go to another room while she watched it, the thing made my skin crawl.
That people have accepted this as some kind of documentary is baffling to me.
Here’s your chance to talk about the movies, whether critically acclaimed or not, that have revolted you on a deeply personal level- and warn others!
I was angry within the first few minutes….
I read up on American Teen after reading this thread and my skin is crawling away already.
@Jesse I watched a couple minutes of that clip and, while my skin isn’t crawling yet, I doubt I’d be able to last for its duration.
All told, I can’t think of too many things which have gotten me up and running from the room in annoyance or profound disgust. If anything, there have been some pretty choice moments in American television; the judges and contestants on any of those variety shows like Think You Can Dance or American Idol, or maybe some ridiculous plot detour in 24 — both examples here made all the more ridiculous by the astounding viewership numbers and fame surrounding them. Even the really harmful films are rather easy to sit through once you’ve experienced TV.
Taking Chance. Least favorite film of all-time.
Jawbreaker, but if I could get through more than 5 minutes of that clip American Teen might be my pick as well.
maybe indiana state teen would be a better title
i watched that film at the cinema and don’t believe it represents the lifestyle of most american teens and it was interesting how the director portrayed the subjects of the film
i do remember dozing off 4 about half an hour :O(
American Teen is just a 90-minute version of Made (the MTV show). It’s pretty good for that.
Anything with Zach Braff makes me cringe, Garden State
I would like to retract my Jawbreaker comment.
Anything with Liza Minnelli or Barbra Streisand.
I saw “This is it” in a theatre and almost had a fit towards the end, where Jackson talks about nature and environment. I was slighty dehydrated, but the film definetly had it’s share of the blame.
