I would really appreciate them putting out more Chinese films. The Last Emperor doesn’t really count as a Chinese film to me, and they’ve only put out four Hong Kong films (between but two directors; as great as they, more would be appreciated in that manner as well) and one Taiwanese film.
On an odder note, I wouldn’t mind some North Korean films being released. Even Pulgasari hasn’t made it to DVD, and it’s the only easy one to track down Stateside. Not that most of the films from out of there are worth watching, even if some are decent.
Tristana
Sacco & Vanzetti
Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion
A Special Day
The Landlord
Urgh! A Music War

i’ll be the 8000th person to say Stalker – an absolute masterwork
I’d like to see Triumph of the Will . . . I’m no Nazi, but it’s an undeniably important film. The Blue Light is pretty good, as well. And I haven’t yet seen Olympia – I’ve heard terrible things about the available editions. I’d like to see Criterion release all of those films.
zatoichi vs. Yojimbo.
Most zatoichi films actually.
I’m sure its been said somewhere in this discussion (least I hope it has) but I’d love to see a release of Lina Wertmuller’s films, namely Seven Beauties.
I forgot BABEL.
Rochelle Rochelle
There’s still a couple of Cocteau films that aren’t readily available, and it’s pretty sad that Celine and Julie go Boating isn’t available in Region 1.
Hal Hartley
I think someone already mentioned it, but I’ll say Jean Vigo’s films, Zero de Conduit, and L’Atlante. I haven’t seen Vigo’s films (sadly), but I’ve heard that they are masterpieces of the highest caliber. Hopefully these get released, as the other dvds of them appear to be out of print.

Chronique d’un Été should have one… as it’s the birth of Cinema Verité….

Purple Noon

Too Bad She’s Bad

Two English Girls

The Red Desert
Now, I could be wrong about this, but wasn’t La Notti considered a faliure by Many people? I think, at the very least, that Pauline Kael hated it (with a passion), but I could be wrong. Either way, it’s Antonioni, and it’s one of my favorite Italian actors, Marcello Mastroianni, so, that sounds all right.
(On another note, though, Pauline Kael also hated the cryptic Last Year at Marienbad, which is not only becoming a Criterion, but is higly praised by many individuals alike)

Zachary – La Notte is definitely a 4/5 star movie. Slightly better than L’Eclisse in my opinion. Jeanne Moreau gives a great performance – plus you also get Marcello and Monica. It’s all subjective, but if you like those three actors and Antonioni you’ll love it.
Salut mon copain
Awesome. Sounds great. I need to see more Antoinioni, anyway (L’Avventura was brilliant). Thanks for the reccomendation!

Seconds – a great cult film starring Rock Hudson directed by John Frankenheimer
