Save the Tiger (1973)
Am I the only one on this whole site that is still pissed off about the fact that “The Crowd” has no DVD release?

ooo Raise the Red Lantern, Farewll My Concubine, Shanghai Triad, Sonatine and The Scent of Green Papaya too……
American Psycho
Let The Right One In
Young Frankenstein
and……dare I say The Dark Knight?
SACCO & VANSETTI
I’ll say Greed, out once on DVD but not now, Bunuel’s Nazarin, the best and most underrated of his films, and Drive He Said, Jack Nicholson’s first directorial effort.
I think that Bunuel’s early surrealist films should be released: Un Chien Andalou, L’age d’or, and maybe Las Hurdes. One release of those would be AWESOME!!!
anybody say Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs?
“Kids” directed by Larry Clark seems like an obvious choice to me for a Criterion release, it would probably sell pretty well
“Irreversible” or “I Stand Alone” could be other serious contenders as well as more Pasolini films such as his Trilogy of Life; personally, I’d like to be able to track down a copy of “Arabian Nights” on DVD that didn’t cost upwards of 200 bucks on amazon.com. Some of Jodorowsky’s films like “El Topo” and the “Holy Mountain” are also good picks. What about “Mystery Train”? I’m surprised Criterion has jumped all over that one.
“Begotten” would be nice to see on a Criterion DVD, especially because it’s only available on amazon for upwards of 100 bucks.
Also, “Kids” directed by Larry Clark, “Irreversible” by Gaspar Noe and maybe Pasolini’s Trilogy of Life (which are only available for hefty prices elsewhere due to being out of print); It’s also a wonder that Jim Jarmusch’s “Mystery Train” hasn’t been released on the Criterion Collection yet. This one might be a long shot but I think that “Fritz the Cat” could be fun if it were a Criterion release; imagine the extras with Crumb and director Ralph Bakshi!
After checking out the Facets DVD of Werckmeister Harmnonies and being a bit disappointed (it’s not anamorphic, the subtitles are too white, the transfer is less than miracolous, although the film is only nine years old, etc.), I would say that this film should receive the Criterion treatment. In fact, I’m pretty sure that most movies by Bela Tarr should, seeing as how they are incredibly influential, and very much known by those who love film (or something like that).

I would love to see Criterion Collection release a copy of O Lucky Man.
I’m sure they have been mentioned at some point over the past 26 pages, but I feel like typing:
La Chienne (1931)
La Crime de Monsieur Lange (1936)
Toni (1935)
and maybe a Renoir Eclipse series…?:
Tire au Flanc (1928)
On Purge Bébé (1931)
La Nuit du Carrefour (1932)
Partie de Campagne (1936)
^^ same with The Magnificient Ambersons, I watched the 88 min version where the horrible (unintended) jump cuts are very noticeable but still a fantastic film. Orson Welles at 26 and 27 making Kane and Ambersons is just unbelievable… what a talent….
ok then I say Criterion Collection needs to release copies of:
Blow Up
Dr. Strangelove: Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love The Bomb
The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button
Fight Club
Candy (1968)
A compilation of George Pal’s stop motion animation Puppettons would be nice.
“Yanco” (possibly “Yanko”) circa ’65 from Mexico, about a boy and a violin. The musical score was thrilling, and the story poignant and profound.
the four or five movies after ray’s apu trilogy starting with the music room
Darjeeling Limited… just to complete the Criterion Wes Anderson catalogue
Pan’s Labrynth
Saw a few calls for ‘Lives of Others’ and personally I thought this Oscar ‘Best Foreign Film’ winner deserved to be called the Second Best Film of the Year From Anywhere. Second to Guillermo del Toro’s brilliant Pan’s Labyrinth.
I’m sure most of what I could imagine wanting has already been said, but the original take on Sleuth, Fitzcarraldo, and an edition of O Lucky Man! that doesn’t split the movie over two discs would all make me very happy.
I’d love to see American-culture time-capsules like Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! and Heavy Metal Parking Lot, too.
Victor Erice’s “El Sur” and “The Quince Tree Light”
Luis Bunuel Mexican Films: “The Lost Ones” “El” “Nazarin” and “Criminal Life of Archeblad….”
Any film by Bela Tarr!!! – especially “Satantango” and “Werckmeister Harmnonies”
Franxesco Rosi’s “Christ Stopped at Eboli” (extended version)
Agnes Varda’s “Agnes on the Beach”
Almost any film by Pasolini . . . Trilogy of Life would make a nice Eclipse package. . .
Margarethe vo Trotta’s “Sheer Madness” aka “Friends and Husbands” (“Heller Wahl”) a GREAT feminist film!!
Any film by Jerzy Kawalerowicz – especially “Mother Joan of the Angels” “Pharaoh” “Death of a LPresident”
Any film by the great Polish director Krzysztof Zanussi – “Illumination” “Camouflage” “Spiral” etc., etc. ..
The short films of Vlatko Gilic (“Homo Sapien” “Homo Harmoni” “In Continue” “Juda” “One Day More” etc…
plus feature films “Kicma” (The Spine" aka “Backbone”) and “Dani od snova” (Day of Dreams")

Tokyo Olympiad needs putting back on the list – another vote for Night of the Hunter (so needed) – Le Cop and Le Cop 2 (readily available on tvideotape in the early 90s you now cant seem to get these titles for love or money – Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources – Something Wild (undder-rated Demme 80s comedy thriller) – Mad Max and The Road Warrior – The Year of Living Dangerously (there’s only a crappy version out at the moment – think of all the extra docs that could be added to put the film into context) – Winsor McCay compilation and docs (please!!!!) – all the Hal Hartley movies – anything by Peter Greenaway (The cook… needs a new print sharpish) – I Married a Witch (very, very funny Veronica Lake comedy) – Nothing Sacred (again very funny) – Topper (and why on earth is there no decent dvd of this classic?)
ooo I’ll add Fandango as well – only a basic copy out there (and hard to find) and I,m sure Costner would be up for a commentary – it’s a very funny 80s movie that hardly anyones seen
