I’d be the first in line for a Criterion copy of the Archers’ A Matter of Life and Death (Stairway to Heaven?). Ginger and Fred deserves Criterion treatment, too!
The fan edit of Richard Williams’ “The Thief and the Cobbler”, or just a remastered version of the film. It really never got it’s due, and I would love it if Criterion got their hands on it.
@greatscott thats a great idea
Letter from an Unknown Woman. To get this on region 1 at all would be fantastic, but for it to get the Criterion treatment would be simply fucktastic. That’s right, so awesome that it deserves a word created solely for it.
more chris marker, more chris marker, more chris marker!
THE COOK, THE THIEF, HIS WIFE & HER LOVER…..needs a decent region 1 release and would look incredible on blu-ray
My friend told me The Human Centipede could be. I am interested in seeing it now haha.
Voyage in Italy
The Magnificent Ambersons
The Color of Pomegranates
“un chien andalou” and “l age d or” together on blu ray
SUBWAY RIDERS!!! from Amos Poe

The Masque of the Red Death
The Taisho Trilogy
oasis, oldboy, peppermint candy, mindgame, the conformist.
i’ve probably forgotten a bunch of movies now.
Lino Brocka’s “Maynila: Sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag”
i’d like welcome to the dollhouse, heavenly creatures, color of pomegranates, blue velvet, christiane f. godard’s weekend, la chinoise and hail mary, to kill a mockingbird, annie hall, manhatten, elephant, gummo, kubrick’s lolita, a clockwork orange, and maybe some animations like rene laloux’s fantastic planet. wladyslaw starewicz and jan svankmajer both deserve some kind of a boxset.
any Maya deren
more chris marker
Gates of Heaven
probably any Herzog so I can finally see one of his films
but what I’d love more than anything would be some Ishiro Honda Kaiju, or one of them Chaplin films Janus got
oh and STALKER
I want to blind buy it but the kino version looks bad
Haven’t read all the pages so I don’t know if this has been said, but I would snap up a Studio Ghibli/Hayao Miyazaki collection in a heartbeat.
Criterion, please do this movie some justice.
the white ribbon
Days of Being Wild
Death by Hanging
Why Does Herr R Run Amok
Celine and Julie Go Boating
The Devil Probably
The only problem with the Kino version of Stalker are subtitle issues, everything else is alright. I’d rather have Nostalghia to finally have all 7 of his major films.
Death by Hanging
Night and Fog in Japan
Cruel Story of Youth
The Naked Island
Stalker, The Blue Angel etc. can wait because other Region 1 releases exist.
Yes, more Oshima, and more filmmakers like Stan Brakhage.
More films from spanish directors.
QUEIMADA aka BURN!. the dvd is terrible
I would really want Mother and The Whore since I haven’t seen a dvd version of it yet and I bet like 10 pages back someone suggested it.
persona, white ribbon, POSSESSION
I found it strange when I looked up criterion on wikipedia to find that many of the films I thought should be Criterions were criterions at one time, really wish they would have kept the rights to all those laserdisks and made awsome dvd’s out of them like they’ve done with Red Shoes, Black Orpheus, and like they need to do with Nights of Cabiria.
I’d really like to see David Byrne’s True Stories released on Criterion, but I may be alone in this.
Also, Dancer in the Dark.
