8 1/2. Fellini to me is kinda hit or miss. I liked Juliet of the Spirits and La Strada. HATED 8 1/2 and Roma.
yes i agree with slumdog millionaire. it was an “ok” film, just did not deserve the oscar though.
Crash was so bad I actually was angry when it won best picture. Oh, before I forget, Cold Mountain was craptastic as well.
I’ll try to keep mine to “revered classics” that I just can’t stand.
Last Tango In Paris: (for it’s reptation, it’s about as erotic as wiping someone else’s ass)
Do The Right Thing (tired of movies where I’m supposed to care about people who are the cause of their own problems)
Blazing Saddles (I’m by no means a PC-policeman, but tired black and gay jokes just aren’t funny to me.)
I watched Do the Right Thing without knowing anything of any of the issues surrounding its release and not thinking much about US history and found it a good and enjoyable film on its own. Why people dislike Do the Right Thing just eludes me.
some famous films piss me off for sure like Patton
or English Patient
or that desirable Forest Gump
or Miss Daisy
or Terms of Endearment
or Crash
or Slumdog’s exaggeration
or Oliver!
generally,i admire those classics that have yes, controversial material like Blazing Saddles or Do the Right Thing and even sexually frustrated films…compared to those,Forest Gump is a zero film mr Brad…
of course,my list of films i hate is worse than those mentioned but i wanted to stick with famous films for now..
Le fabuleux destin d’Amelie Poulin. Can it get any worse?
Dimitris:
With the two films you responded to in your comment (no worries, not being bitchy:) )
With Blazing Saddles, I just found that it simply wasn’t funny. I like other Mel Brooks films, but it relied on the cheap joke for the easy laugh. It wasn’t witty or smart, it was just terribly unfunny to me. and trust me, I’m one of the most inappropritae people you could ever hope to know.
With Do The Right Thing, I found this movie chock full of people getting upset about stupid shit. So what if the Italian restraurant in Harlem didn’t have pictures of black celebrities. You got Mookie instigating shit by throwing a trash can through the window of the pizza parlor, despite the fact that he’s just a shitty employee. I mean, sure, it got hot and people went nutso. I live in friggin’ Florida. It gets hot as hell here too, but no one I know does dumb shit like that. After a certain point, I just couldn’t care less about these characters. So, I don’t like the movie on it’s own terms. but the reverence that surrounds it is simply mystifying to me.
Of the films you mentioned, I think Crash is trash and Forrst Gump is simple minded drivel, but mopst of those had been mentioned or at the very least, are widely vieweed as regrettable choices nbow. I opted for films the I dislike that don’t get hit by the splatter as much
sorry for any typos in the above post… i took my contacts out before bed and getting ready to turn in for the night.

So…you only watch movies where everyone acts responsibly and only get upset when there is an unarguably perfect reason to do so. You must only like films with robots. The characters in Do The Right Thing are human. They make rash decisions and mistakes.
Fatal Attraction. I hated it when it first was released and still hate it.
Mike, I have no problems with people acting irresponsibly or making rash decisions or mistakes. That happens. But here, I found almost every conflict in the film to be nonsensical and unrealistic, with the silly justification of “well, people get crazy when it’s hot out.” And as a result, I disagree that these characters were human. They were just silly one-note vehicles to advance a story that’s mostly ridiculous. You may have seen genuine human interaction, but I didn’t buy it. To me, it was just lame artifice.
Dead Man
i cant stand city of god, benjamin button and slumdog millionaire. and blindness
Gosh Barry i don’t like city of god, benjamin button or slumdog millionaire either. For that matter I don’t like anything that’s hyped up on TV or the Radio as worthy of an Oscar. I don’t do ‘worthy’ films where we’re supposed or forced to feel sorry for the people’s plight or suffering by advertised trailers. I only do sympathy if I feel the performance has elicited it and reduces me to the verge of tears: I don’t want to be told to be empathetic or sympathetic. It’s too sycophantic.
The worse film I have seen so far this year is Nine – quite why middle-aged decent actresses are reduced to spreading their legs in front of a camera totally escapes me and what on earth did Daniel Day Lewis think he was doing rushing around with voice of a ice-cream salesman on speed?
Frailty
most of Tim Burton’s films
most of Spielberg’s films

Slumdog Millionaire. Ridiculous film!
