Don’t read much on critic reviews. I do like a lot of hollywood blockbusters as entertainment though, and most people here don’t like them very much.

Actually, I think if you ask them most people on here like them just fine as entertainment, they just don’t like talking about them, especially on here. For many people it’s not that hard to find real live people to discuss their thoughts about the latest blockbuster with, it’s much harder to find someone to discuss the latest independent film with, so they come here.
Yeah, I understand that. Blockbusters aren’t really that much fun to talk about either for that matter. Guess I shouldn’t generalize as much lol
Bertolucci’s Luna
Arthur Penn’s The Missouri Breaks
a lot of horror titles, and a few comedies, as well
and a lot of films directed by Richard Fleischer, an underrated utilitarian filmmaker while alive, who deserves a rediscovery. Many of his films have some remarkable moments and elements within.

oh, i’ll add Ken Park (larry clark) and Palindromes (tod solondz) to the list
I have to agree with you Caligula about Palindromes. That is one the strangest movies I’ve seen, but I really like it. Like all of Tod Solondz’ movies, it’s depressing while at the same time being absurdly hilarious… It’s a lot like my life. haha.

@ Christopher S.: LOVE ‘The Missouri Breaks’!!!! Possibly Brando’s best performance, and it includes one of the most memorable death scenes of all time!
As for mine:
The Missing (Ron Howard)
The Truth About Charlie (Demme)
Miami Vice (Mann)
1941 (Spielberg)
Popeye (Altman)
The Trial (Welles)
New York, New York (Scorsese)
The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle
Ginger Snaps (John Fawcett- not so much hated as ignored, really)
Tank Girl
Dahmer (David Jacobson)
The Addiction (Ferrara)
“Somewhere In Time” (1980).
The thing (Carpenter remake) special effects were something to behold in its day, and hols up better compared to todays CGI
Hannibal
others I’m sure I am forgetting but those 2 stick out.
oh, and I agree with the Ninth gate, great film~
Mammoth
The Life Aquatic
Match Point (Britsh critics really tore this film to pieces)
Billy Madison
I really liked Bladerunner when it was released and remember all the critics in NYC panning it, including Sarris at The Village Voice. Was surprised 10 years later when the Director’s cut was released to read the Voice critic calling it “The keystone of 80s cinema”. Ha!
Well Gabriel was pretty interesting, I really like the twist at the end of Dracula 2000, and The Fountain was definitely one of the most brilliant films I have ever seen.
