Not what I’d call an obsession, but as he’s my favorite actor since I first spotted him in Spider-Man at age 12, I can watch just about anything with Willem Dafoe. Even if the film is a total piece-of-shit, or just plain mediocrity-on-reel, he makes all the more rewarding.
@charles deckert: Liam Neeson can do that too.
who to choose?
everyone has to vote
ahh tough one meg! i can’t decide!
The guy with the beard.
I’m gonna add this person to my obsession list…
^ The Dude likes ’em young.
Oh yes. The one with the edge.
This may come as a surprise, but…
@ari: Well, what can I say? (And I’m 16, so I have an excuse)
^ wow just 16! Youngin’! :)
Hideko is great, but I prefer Setsuko Hara both in acting and looks, partially because she has a strong resemblance to my mother.
And we have zero Asian, let alone Japanese, in the bloodline. Well, at least as far back as the Revolucion…
@judicial joe: What do you see in Paz De La Huerta? I understand Charlotte Rampling or Scarlett Johanson but why her?!?
Ah, okay, Dude, you’re excused. I didn’t realize you were you were a little Dude. You get a free pass. It always amazes me these kids today with such sophisticated tastes in film.
@ari: The power of the Internet and your local library combined are responsible for that (well, at least for me).
@meg-: he looks familiar…
he looks like this now
Not that he is handsome or something, but he is in my opinion the best Mexican actor, he acts like a giant!
Dude, Paz is gorgeous in that film (The Limits of Control) and also quite good in Enter the Void, despite others’ complaints about her.
Ari, there are quite a few Young Achievers, both literally and figuratively, on MUBI. I didn’t know The Dude was one of them, but an argument I got into with Edwin N (16, Lebanon) in December 2010 was the biggest factor in my becoming a cinephile, and Abby (16, Texas) has become a great friend and big influence on my taste after I met her on the Criterion Facebook page.
You young whippersnappers have it so good. I didn’t have high speed internet, streaming services, torrent trackers, or cinephile-centered social networks at y’alls age. Granted, at that time I was more interested in music than film.
hey I made a gif thingy! (i never did that before)

Oh yes, Meg, Terrence Stamp… mmmmm
