“The Auteurs” must be the most wankerish site name in the history of the internet. Good riddance. MUBI all the way.

I’ve never seen the auteurs as a brand – I’m not an auteurion vs. a criterion.
I see the forum as a community for sharing, learning and, uh, the expression of conflict in the form of opinions such as why we hate Nick Cage …lol
The name matters not in that regard – call it mubi or doobie or spliff if you want.
Let’s look at some numbers though.
The site has @ 250,000 members and how many post on the forum? 500? 1000? Let’s say 2,500 so we have an round number of 1 percent. How much of the sites revenue comes from the 1% forum participation?
1 percent? 10 percent? None?
How much time and money does maintaining the forum require?
You may log on someday and find the forum gone and that would not matter for the site’s viability.
just a thought…
Without doubt, The Auteurs was much better.
Can anyone tell me where does this Mubi come from?

I liked the Auteurs, but I understand why they changed it. I just don’t think that mubi is the answer.

LOL Cossack. That’s about right.
mark my words – you will barely remember that this site was even called “the auteurs”. the auteurs was a bad name, mubi is a bad name. if they change it again, it will likely be unfitting. remember the uproar when Criterion changed their logo? if you had a problem with that and if you have a problem with this, you got your attention in the wrong place. Movies Undermined By Identifications.

One of the main reasons why I was so impressed with this web site was because the lack of vulgarity, offenses, troll behavior and personal attacks among users, who actively write in the forums. Today, for the first time I have read things like that in this place. This web site was and I truly hope still is an oasis for cinephiles and filmmakers whose main focus is Cinema. I do not care that much about the size or name of that oasis, as long as the water is still drinkable.
yeah, santasombra, that is the reason why I liked this website too. Mubi to me does not fit the nature of this website, unless they are trying to change the nature to begin with.
