Hahaha I think Mubi sounds retarded…
i’m not sure….i feel ridiculously funny… and sad at the same time. like reallyyyyyy Mubiiiiiiii .. obeee van kenoobeeee
Just when I got a ‘theAuteurs’ tattoo on my across my neck. Goddamnit.
Please review my post on our name change. We’ll answer all your concerns over the next couple of days.
Cute Efe but what’s the point? You guys get bored or something.
“People say if you don’t love Mubi then get the hell out. Me, I love Mubi.”
for what it’s worth…..
“a plebiscite conducted by the United Nations in 1959 voted that the area of which Mubi was the capital should join the newly independent Federation of Nigeria”
MUBI was also a bad boy in a Ugandan folk story.
Mubi is a stream in the Congo.
:( what is going on? They’ve been branding “The Auteurs” for two years or nearly that. I’d be embarrassd to recommend something called “mubi” to ANYONE!!!!!!!!! Does that mean Efe is renouncing the auteur theory or what? :(
It’s not my website, so I probably don’t really care, but didn’t The Auteurs at least give a passing impression that this was a film site?
If I google “Jean-Luc Godard,” and see Mubi, am I really going to want to go there?
You know, as much as I don’t like the name, I’m at least thankful that this is the only serious change that has been made to the site since I’ve joined.
I saw far worse things back in my YouTube days……….
Mourning The Auteurs :( … MUBI? SERIOUSLY?! ¬¬
I guess it means the website is taken over by the Japanese. Maybe they’ll add some more Japanese films for a change.
I’ve got it! The Auteurs has been taken over by Ubisoft., that ‘leading producer, publisher and distributor of interactive entertainment products worldwide’.
Welcome to the world of Interactive Entertainment Products! Films are so last millennium…
And still nobody can say what the name even means…
“I always felt uncomfortable using the word ‘Auteurs’. I think the word has a pretentious air about it.”
wow, talking about who’s the real pretentious folk here…..
Mubi is a Chadic language spoken in Chad.
The language is: Mubi
edit: I feel the same way Dimitris .. however, the Auteurs was safe for work…MUBI will require too much ’splainin
auteurs much better
pretentious at least doesn’t mean dumb as m***
MUBI: Most Uncalled-for Belated Indeceny
Maybe Ugly But Interesting
Maybe Underground But Insistent
My Uncle Bob Is…
Please change the name back before this place gets swamped with “Mubi-ers.”
OMG! I saw it on Mubi it wuz soooooo good LOL! I’ll Mubi u L8r about ur Mubi and Kevin’s Mubi.
My girlfriend left me because of this name change…
Corduroy has a point here. whether we all like it or not.
here’s to the new Social Network (????)
There’s a lot of people who seem so…
“I don’t like Mubiiiiii!!!!! where’s my auwteeeeeuuuuwwwrs????”
I have to admit, it does sound like a social networking site for 12 year olds.
The Auteurs had a lot of prestige, MUBI doesn’t.
I can’t handle this… Change it back now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
“Dude, lets go to Mubi! No, not the town in africa… NO, not the language they speak in Chad either, how the hell would we GO to a language in Chad? The Movie site damn it!”
I feel funny saying either really. I have some buddies into movies, and neither feels natural in any kind of conversation.
MUBI: Morons United By Interest.
The Judge has made a decision
Why in the world did somebody decide to go and screw with this Web site’s name?
TheAuteurs.com was a classy name for a Web site that pretty much said anything anybody needed to know about it.
And who in the world REALLY GIVES A DAMN if people can’t spell the word ‘Auteurs’? Are people the world-over supposed to remain within a state of suspended deficiency in intellectual capacity, and everybody else go down to that lowest-common-denominator level?!?
Obviously I’m upset, but part of the reason I’m as upset as I am is because this name change IS SO POINTLESS AND USELESS.
Change the name BACK to TheAuteurs.com.
“Mubi” is an Internet age Twitter-ized lingual bastardization of the word movie that is APPARENTLY taking the place of a Web site name that made perfect sense and, as I said before, was a sensible, pithy way to let people know what this site was about.
ABSOLUTELY, TOTALLY, INCOMPREHENSIBLY STUPID. What in the world are you all (not) thinking?!
Allison – "what is going on? They’ve been branding “The Auteurs” for two years or nearly that. I’d be embarrassd to recommend something called “mubi” to ANYONE!!!!!!!!!
Kai White – “didn’t The Auteurs at least give a passing impression that this was a film site? If I google “Jean-Luc Godard,” and see Mubi, am I really going to want to go there?”
I VERY much agree with these two comments.
