for what it’s worth…..

“a plebiscite conducted by the United Nations in 1959 voted that the area of which Mubi was the capital should join the newly independent Federation of Nigeria”

MUBI was also a bad boy in a Ugandan folk story.

Mubi is a stream in the Congo.

:( what is going on? They’ve been branding “The Auteurs” for two years or nearly that. I’d be embarrassd to recommend something called “mubi” to ANYONE!!!!!!!!! Does that mean Efe is renouncing the auteur theory or what? :(

It’s not my website, so I probably don’t really care, but didn’t The Auteurs at least give a passing impression that this was a film site?

If I google “Jean-Luc Godard,” and see Mubi, am I really going to want to go there?

Black Irish

You know, as much as I don’t like the name, I’m at least thankful that this is the only serious change that has been made to the site since I’ve joined.

I saw far worse things back in my YouTube days……….

I guess it means the website is taken over by the Japanese. Maybe they’ll add some more Japanese films for a change.

I’ve got it! The Auteurs has been taken over by Ubisoft., that ‘leading producer, publisher and distributor of interactive entertainment products worldwide’.
Welcome to the world of Interactive Entertainment Products! Films are so last millennium…

Mubi is a Chadic language spoken in Chad.
The language is: Mubi

edit: I feel the same way Dimitris .. however, the Auteurs was safe for work…MUBI will require too much ’splainin

“HEY GUYS, I FOUND A COOL SITE CALLED the au-awtors?”

“Dude, lets go to Mubi! No, not the town in africa… NO, not the language they speak in Chad either, how the hell would we GO to a language in Chad? The Movie site damn it!”

I feel funny saying either really. I have some buddies into movies, and neither feels natural in any kind of conversation.

Why in the world did somebody decide to go and screw with this Web site’s name?

TheAuteurs.com was a classy name for a Web site that pretty much said anything anybody needed to know about it.

And who in the world REALLY GIVES A DAMN if people can’t spell the word ‘Auteurs’? Are people the world-over supposed to remain within a state of suspended deficiency in intellectual capacity, and everybody else go down to that lowest-common-denominator level?!?

Obviously I’m upset, but part of the reason I’m as upset as I am is because this name change IS SO POINTLESS AND USELESS.

Change the name BACK to TheAuteurs.com.

“Mubi” is an Internet age Twitter-ized lingual bastardization of the word movie that is APPARENTLY taking the place of a Web site name that made perfect sense and, as I said before, was a sensible, pithy way to let people know what this site was about.

ABSOLUTELY, TOTALLY, INCOMPREHENSIBLY STUPID. What in the world are you all (not) thinking?!

Postscript:

Allison – "what is going on? They’ve been branding “The Auteurs” for two years or nearly that. I’d be embarrassd to recommend something called “mubi” to ANYONE!!!!!!!!!

Kai White – “didn’t The Auteurs at least give a passing impression that this was a film site? If I google “Jean-Luc Godard,” and see Mubi, am I really going to want to go there?”

I VERY much agree with these two comments.
