thanks Den for posting the list above but i gotta say….this is a fuckin’ predictable and (utterly) superficial list,i take back everything i said about the TIFF.
(not everything but you catch my drift)
the fact Eastwood gets so much love by some Americans is beyond me!
Eastwood. Wow. LA and NY will weigh in shortly. This’ll be interesting.
Can’t help but notice- nothing for Cameron or Jackson.
i hadn’t heard anything great about inviticus until now
Cameron already got his share of the pie KJ,you seriously didn’t think Avatar would over-top the geek-smash hit of Star Trek? ;)
Den,as i said,it’s time we all realize that films like Gran Torino,True Crime,Space Cowboys clearly SUCK!
and even Million Dollar Babies weren’t big deals…
where are the eras when Eastwood used to make something favorable like Bird or Pale Rider?
Can’t believe star trek made it; only movie this year I walked out of
eastwood doesn’t even care, so all that love is misplaced
do you think Clooney cares as well? ;)
gosh,i still can’t believe i’m reading this…Clooney is winning accolades and most of the population doesn’t even know who Giancarlo Giannini is….
I think clooney cares I think he loves accolades. I think eastwood feels this love makes him seem like he is old and beloved ( he has a big averson to aging based on new biography about him) I think he would trade all awards for a bj from megan fox
I will still be okay with awards until they give one to tyler perry
@Dimitris the fact Eastwood gets so much love by some Americans is beyond me!
Go ahead, Dimitris, make my day!Clint Eastwood the single most overrated director in the history of film? How in the hell he gets so much praise for his utterly average films is beyond my comprehension.
funny thing is i like several Eastwood films but let’s be honest,he’s a hit-or-miss director and i find it hilarious looking at favorite lists with Gran Torino included in them whereas superior works by him like Madison County or Josey Wells are still ignored because the Oscar hype always wins dammit!
i like him too and even grand torino but his masterpieces (even a genre one like true crime) get overshadowed by his lesser works
I don’t really go crazy over Eastwood’s work and definitely disagree with “Million Dollar Baby” for the Academy Award, but “Unforgiven,” “Mystic River,” and “Letters from Iwo Jima” are all masterful contemporary works.
“Play Misty for Me” is a genre classic. Great film.
I agree Eastwood can be hit or miss, but when he hits, its usually a home run. Play Misty for Me, High Plains Drifter, The Outlaw Jose Wales, Mystic River and Letters from Iwo Jima would cement his reputation, but when you include a classic like Unforgiven, you can’t dismiss him just because he’s got a few Space Cowboys in his catalog. I’d put Gran Torino with Bronco Billy as enjoyable “B” movies he made particularly for his fans.
Also, I pretty convinced Eastwood could have Megan Fox any time he’d like.
How is District 9 an indi film? Wasn’t that a big budget special effects film.
how is humpday on there, it is mumblecore at its worst
Dimitris, you liked Madison County? Really? I never would have even dreamed…

Hey, I love Clint Eastwood. He is the John Ford of our generation.
