New DVD?

According to Amazon theres a new dvd release coming next month. Does anyone know if it’s a new restoration or anything different? Or is it just a re-release of the old version?

No, I don’t think it will be significantly different in terms of the quality of the transfer. What happen, if I recall correctly, is that Paramont’s deal with American Zoetrope to distribute the film on DVD expired and the home video rights went to Lions Gate, who are now distributing their version of the disc.

ah cool, thanks. i finally got around to see it (admittedly not huge on coppola other than those 2 huge ones he did) and totally loved it. I guess I’ll wait till august and buy this new version. Hopefully it wont be worse.

I would imagine that it will be very similar. I’m not sure if the commentary and other extras on the Paramount disc belong to Coppola or to Paramount, so it’s possible that the the “extras” could be different.
