the css isn’t working. so all I can see is a bunch of raw HTML links and misplaced boxes.
ah no… wait…cleared the cache. it looks great …very professional, low key, stylish. the new logo is also great.
You might need to force refresh. I’m copying a helpful post from WordPress below. Let me know if it works!
Someone just told you to “force reload” your browser to fix something and you’re wondering what on earth they could possibly mean. Fear not! Depending on your operating system all you need to do to accomplish such a thing is the following key combination:
http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/09/06/force-refresh/
…or if using firefox (why would you not be using firefox?): go tools>clear private data>clear cache.
I like it! Much easier to understand what is where vs previous version.
I like it the colors are very simple, but somehow give it a vibrant feel!
Sweet, I like it.
Pretty nice, the new logo is cool…
I have to disagree. I much preferred the logoless all-caps helvetica to the lowercase, logo’d version. I just feel like the caps had a much more authoritative feel. Also, the ads on the right hand side are a distraction, if not just for their low quality. The layout of the content, however, I have no problem with.
Glad you like the layout. The ads… yeah. I don’t like them either. They are a step towards breaking even for the company. We are working hard to have cooler ads in the future, and even better, to find a different way to monetize altogether. Let me know if you have ideas!
I take it back, no so sweet. The ad section disrupts quite a bit.
I like the logo and the lowercase (I actually really like the little cooper black version near the bottom of the homepage). The ads, if not just removed, should have at least a gutter next to them or something; it feels cluttered with them so close.
Good point Zach re: gutter. We’ll take a look and see what we can do.
Looking further into the design, I think it simply needs more negative space overall. Maybe more space between the “we are watching” etc. and the genres bar and the stuff below that…. Interesting color choices for the genres. If it were me, I would put more headroom above the logo too, so the margins don’t look so even.
I agree with Mr. Smith on the serif’d version below (where you can invite friends). The lower case is growing on me, as well.
Got it, Zach. I’ll add those points to the list. Keep the suggestions coming.
I love the layout. It’s more self intuitive without compromising design! I agree about the adds, but it’s a temporary necessary evil. I really liked the Funny Games add you had before. I think it looked pretty cool. If you can get filmmakers/distributors/industry guys to sponsor some of the content and have your designer prepare the add (you could even sell them to have your awesome design/PR team prepare an add/ internet campaign that they can use in other media, if they sponsor the site in some sort of way and makes sense for you), it would look cool on the site and be informative of upcoming movies & events. I also really like the interactive web magazine style you’ve given to the site -with movies to watch; a definitive plus. It’s looking great and I’m definitively learning and watching great films just by knowing what all the guys using the site are watching and commenting. Halim, thanks to your suggestion, I also just bought the Too Loud a Solitud. I’ll read it after I finish Oscar Wao. Take care guys!
