Um…what is the point of this?
Did you hear they discovered the worlds greatest cookie in northern Latvia earlier this morning?
yeah, and I have a photo of Crazy Horse, the leader of the Oglala Lakota
lol
This was brilliant. Very funny Kenji, it was great to read the ongoing debate and the growing sense of realisation. It was also good to see everybody has a sense of humour, renewing my faith in the forum, after much negative debate.
Ha! I was ready to propose Robert, Nathan, Alexander and KJ saunter on over to Kenji’s place and have a little ‘what for.’ Hmmm, loyal friend/co-conspirator – ok Apu, where for art thou?
wow,a Kenji joke?mmmm,is this a Japanese conspiracy for the World Cup? :P
anyways,i don’t care,if someone started telling me that they’ve restored Don Quixote by Welles to its full extent,i’d still believe it :P
for the record,i still feel that somewhere in this universe,an Ivan the Terrible Part 3 copy exists…hehehe.
Kenji: I have to say I admire the audacity of the hoax, there aren’t enough good ones these days. ;)
Very nice!
Kenji deserves some kind of award. Apursansar does as well for being an excellent accomplice. This was sort of theauteurs.com equivalent of Man on Wire.
“This was sort of theauteurs.com equivalent of Man on Wire.”
the only difference Blue is that this joke is far more tasteful than the 90 minutes of that lousy documentary ;)
here’s what i want to know; when i first read Kenjis post and laid eyes on those images if only for a second a likely idea of what that film could have been like appeared and I convinced myself Kenji had already seen what I had imagined the film to be, and that it truly was better than Sancho, 8 1/2, Kane or any other great b/w film. Now, was I blinded by the magnificent hoax plot/poetic imagery or did Kenji’s creativity result in a glimpse of a masterpiece never made?
maybe i should just make the darn film myself
Somebody did something like this on the criterionforums.com forum some time ago. They claimed to have found a famous missing film (Fritz Lang maybe? Can’t remember) and someone actually got a film restoration person from UCLA on the board to try and convince the person claiming to have the film to turn it over. Kind of amusing, in my opinion.
Kenji, you son of a gun!! :)
That Gloria Swanson photo is what got him busted..
Every film’s buff fantasy: to see a film nobody has ever seen before, specially if its the greatest.
This thread couldn’t be more appropriate.
Hahaha good one Kenji. Those are some great stills nonetheless.
Morris Stuttard
Yeah – I was kind of wondering how a Russian surname ended up as a first! Hats off to you though Kenji – had me going too – and no tattered rep at all – I mean where would any of us be without story-tellers?!
