Maybe everyone else already knew this… but this is from Bleacher Report, (which is sort of like a tabloid, but this looks legitimate):

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/350468-brett-favre-dispelling-the-myth-of-the-interception-king

Despite the fact that Favre has more INT’s than any other QB and is known for being a gunslinger, he looks pretty good compared to other great QB’s in TD-INT ratio (how many more TD than INT’s).

Bret Favre: +180
-
Dan Marino: +168
Joe Montana: +134
Tom Brady: +126
Steve Young: +125
John Elway: +74
Terry Bradshw: +2

I wonder how many of those INT’s came in the 4th quarter of important games though.

Numbers may not lie, but they need a whole lot of contextualizing. Brett Favre has played more games than any other qb. Many more. So his numbers don’t tell an accurate story. Is he the worst qb of all-time because he’s thrown more interceptions than any qb ever? Is he the best qb of all-time because he’s thrown more td’s than anyone?

He’s got a ring and he’s the dictionary definition of a first-ballot hall of famer. Case closed. The rest is conversation of varying quality.

Great ratio though. I actually thought it was worse. But where is Peyton on that list?

“Numbers may not lie, but they need a whole lot of contextualizing. Brett Favre has played more games than any other qb.”

Yeah, the amount of games he has played over the others certainly has an effect.

According to the website, Peyton was +185, which is the best. At the end of his career Peyton will probably be far and away better than anyone else.

I would also like to give a shout of support for John Kitna, (who is geting a lot of crap lately). Kitna is a graduate of the relatively small D-II school that we’re attending. He comes back every once in a while and is a pretty stand-up guy.

I watched last night’s game online (through a website of questionable legal standing) and got the commercial-free feed, which allowed me to hear Jon Gruden refer to Wade Phillips as “Marshmallow Man” during a break in the action. That’s really bad, considering Gruden’s tendency to effusively praise nearly everyone he sees on MNF. Yikes.

I do have a bet going on the Bucs making the playoffs that is starting to look like I might actually have to pay out on it. I’m shocked by the Saints, and also thought we’d see more from the Bengals.I’m starting to feel ok about the Giants for NFC East, I’m not writing the Eagles off but Vick impresses me more than Kolb.

I cannot believe the Pack won… It wasn’t pretty and of course questionable calls… Tramon Willaims is looking fantastic.

In other news… I do not understand why you would bench McNabb and take your chances with Grossman.

As much as I don’t like Dallas, it is kinda sad to see a team full of talent crumble.

I really like Raheem Morris. The Bucs may not be filled with talent, but he has convinced that team that they are. And because of that, they are playing pretty well.

-I do not understand why you would bench McNabb and take your chances with Grossman-

According to what I heard, Shanahan’s explanation was that he felt that Grossman had a better grasp of the two-minute offense. However, having watched Grossman play in Chicago for a number of years, I have a hard time believing that is actually the case.

I predict wildcard spot this year

Has there ever been a team that has so obviously quit on its coach than the 2010 Cowboys? Pathetic.

I’m so happy this town has other teams that actually give a shit.

John

Wade is way too lax and it’s because after every loss Jerry says his job is safe. I don’t hear a lot of coaches telling the players that their jobs are safe after becoming 1-6

@ Robert W Peabody III
Are we going to have a trash talking session when the Pack play Sunday night?

I hope Jerry is happy with all those empty seats.

Dennis Brian

bring back Jimmy Johnson or Mike Ditka out of retirement. or throw a buch of money at Noel Coward

I sure Jerry can afford that

Dennis Brian

maybe the Dallas loses are due to the fact that Kim K dumped Miles Austin or maybe Al Davis put a hex on Jerry and sapped him of his luck

Pats will prolly have clinched the div by then…..

Benching McNabb was ridiculous. I didn’t watch the game so I don’t know the whole. context. But Rex Grossman has been a failed experiment for years now.

The Bucs are pretenders. I think they’re capitalizing off of a marginal schedule. They won’t win the south and the Saints look like they may finally be waking up. I wouldn’t even put money on the Bucs making the playoffs.

The Rams may still be able to win the division!

The Pats are looking awfully sharp. Brady is back to form. Funny how they’re quietly sneaking along with no one calling them the best team in the AFC. It’s always either New York or Pittsburgh or Baltimore. It would appear those opinions are wrong.

BREAKING NEWS:

Wow! The Vikes release Randy Moss.

Joe and Karen

Remember when Brad Childress brought the VIkings back to respectability (after the love boat incident), and was seen as a man of leadership and accountability? After the handling of Brett Favre and Randy Moss, I doubt that he’ll be back next season.

“The Rams may still be able to win the division!”

No. The Seahawks are going to sign Randy Moss and easily win the division on their way to the Super Bowl!
Sam Bradford looks great though. And the Seahawks looked horrible against the Raiders. Horrible.

Unphkngbelievable! all morning there was speculation whether Moss would come back to the Pats.

In Moss’s post game interview he diss-ed Childress.

In other news, Wade Phillips’ plans to climb back up the NFC East involve eating it. Only Pete Venkman and some timely stream-crossing will be able to stop him.

Alex K

Chilly and Wade must have a huge side bet going on over who gets fired first. That is the only possible explanation for this.

Matt Parks

Call me crazy, but I actually think the Lions could potentially give the Patriots some trouble, especially with the game sitting after games against the Steelers and the Colts and right before the rematch with the Jets. The Lions have a very good passing game and the Patriots are still terrible against the pass.

Re: Moss :

“Various league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins, Chicago Bears, St. Louis Rams, Miami Dolphins, Oakland Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets and even the Patriots are among the teams possibly interested in claiming Moss.

[Moss’s agent] told the Star Tribune that he has already been contacted by the Dolphins and Seahawks about Moss."

What’s the record for most teams played for in a single season?

Robert W Peabody III

Yeah, any of those teams could give the Pats trouble, but the Pats are too young to be bothered by that fact.

I’m thinking: Moss = Jets

The Jets already have two rehab projects at WR, might as well take on a third.

Bobby Wise

He would actually fit. Holmes could be the route tree runner and Moss could be the deep threat.

Alex K

How funny would it be if Moss clears waivers, then signs with New England for the veteran minimum? NE gets a third round pick while dumping Randy’s contract in Minnesota. It’s possible . . .

Meanwhile, in Washington, Shanahan addresses the issue of his fat, out of shape QB by working out . . . Jamarcus Russell?

This season has been crazy.
