“We Can’t Go Home Again” is a completely experimental film. Made collectively with his students — Ray serving as a kind of conductor — it’s a mult-image freakout like Warhol’s ****(Four Stars) — which Ray must have heard about or seen parts of. Also remindful of Ira Schneider’s Los In Cuddahy

The students aren’t actors. They’re student playiung themselevs in a series of widely disconnected scenes. There’s aloso much footage shot at anti-Vietnam protests amnd the Chicago 7 trial is involved as well. Utterly uncommercial it’s Ray’s Id on just about full display.
