I’m not sure this one is obscure or hard to find, but I think it needs more attention, and certainly can be considered a midnight movie. I’ll try to think of more later, if you don’t mind lots of horror trailers.
that’s hilarious! ^
this film has a mubi page. why do i have a feeling most of these will be from the 70s…
so here’s one from the 50s. a bunch of these monster movies are on youtube
one more. kthxbai
The Klansman (Lee Marvin again, Oj, Richard Burton)
Yes, more horror films please.
Just saw Let’s Scare Jessica to Death today and loved it.
that’s not very obscure! k i’m posting this:
has anyone actually seen this? it’s on youtube in 9 parts lol.
Tommy: I love Jessica. Haven’t seen it in years and years.
Ruby: I’ve heard of this one, but haven’t seen it…yet.
This one, again, isn’t difficult to find, but I think it merits a view. I’m only 1 of 2 fans (actually, I’m the only one who showed up, so maybe someone blocked me?? hahahaha).
Here’s one that might be on par with Night of the Lepus:
A Tor Johnson film:
Finally:
I own all of these hahahaha, so I’m sure if these delightful trailers have piqued your interest you’ll have luck in finding a copy.
Finally available as one of those MGM DVD-on-Demand things. All I’ve ever seen is a bootleg.
That looks fantastic, Hellshocked. Sorry, Ruby, but it looks like Night of the Lepus got bumped down on the watchlist ;0
wow, vincent price, peter cushing, christopher lee and john carradine? ^ how bad could this be??
i’ve always been curious about
looks like an exorcist/carrie mashup, complete with piper laurie
love tnt jackson, bijoux xD
Pamela Franklin was the little girl in The Innocents. Here she is many years later.
i’ve been recommended this before. i know it’s streaming on netflix. it’s good huh?
While Jessica is no all that obscure, it sure would make a great midnight movie.
Dark Night of the Scarecrow is a favorite of mine. It came out on dvd not too long ago I believe.
This trailer is pretty dull but the movie was kind of entertaining. Dead of Night is also sometimes called Deathdream.
@Tommy, I also really enjoyed Let’s Scare Jessica to Death. What a creepy atmosphere that movie had.
Yeah Deathdream is awesome. One of Bob Clarks best. Jessica is great. Very moody and eerie. I love those kinds of films.
There is a Deathdream on netflix instant, wonder if that’s the one (on kindle right now, so can’t see all that’s been posted here) .
That’s the same Bijoux.
that’s it, bijoux
Great!! There were a few other films I wanted to post on here but can’t find trailers.
Ms. Lampert in Let’s Scare Jessica To Death is riveting. That scene where she holes up in the room after escaping the woman vampire from the lake always gets to me. I love those charcoal-embossed copies she made of the headstones, all tacked onto the bedroom wall. The blood-curdling scream she emits after seeing her own reflection in the mirror is nonetheless unnerving. This is a terrific example of a low-budget horror film that does not rely too much on violence and gore to illustrate a point across. Wish they still made horror films like these.
i’m sorry i missed it :(
Another (underrated) horror gem:
Sorry Ruby. I didn’t see your post above. I liked And Soon the Darkness just fine. It’s light on plot but it has it’s charms and atmosphere. It’s also a rarity for horror films because it takes place entirely in daylight. At least I didn’t remember any night scenes.
I haven’t seen it in ages but I adored Hell Comes to Frogtown as a kid. Sandahl Bergman’s dance alone is worth the price of admission.
I’m a goofy foot. According to this film I am an “inferior breed”.
Haha. I’ve been meaning to get to Frogtown. I love Roddy Piper. Saw Surf Nazis a long time ago and really need to revisit.
Mark, my favorite scene or the one that got to me the most, was when the Emily and Jessica characters are alone at the lake after Jessica starts to realise that there’s something really wrong. Emily puts the lotion on her back and pushers her into the lake. Everything in that scene where they’re in the water made me feel very weird.
I read about Shock Waves a while back ago when I read the complete history of zombie cinema. Still have yet to get around to it.
For Your Height Only is a lot of fun and completely ridiculous. Love Weng Weng.
Oh my god, Weng Weng, my fellow countryman…
Another Larry Cohen feature:
This is another obscure (and pretty funny) one:
Don’t believe I’ve seen a Larry Cohen film. I think I need to change that. Looks like stuff I’d love.
This trailer for Zardoz fucking kills me every time I see it. It plays pretty often here as a midnight movie.
tomas.roges
Yeah sure, there are other threads made for favorite film trailers and what-not, but what I want here is to completely focus on really obscure, hard to find films. Particularly stuff that you’d see for late night viewing or midnight drive in style stuff. After watching bits from 42nd Street Forever, I’ve really been wanting to check out a lot of weird films.
