When I think of Gorecki and film, I think of Peter Weir’s Fearless…RIP
I just bought a recording of Gorecki’s 3rd. I’m not sure how I feel about it yet as it will require many more listens and a lot more learning before I start forming serious opinions about this kind of work.
I am curious though, if he had the 4th symphony ready for a premiere, has anyone recorded it yet?
^^You aren’t too familiar with that sort of minimalism then Mike? what about Arvo Part?
As for the 4th symphony, who knows if we will ever get to hear it. nobody has recorded it yet to my knowledge, and some believe it wasn’t even finished anyway.

i know there isa few classical fans on here. He was 76. It’s a shame too because he apparently had his Symphony No.4 ready to go but had to cancel the London premiere early this year due to illness. 4th Symphonies are cursed it seems :-(
For those who aren’t familiar with him, i suggest you check out his most popular work, Symphony No. 3 “Symphony of Sorrowful Songs”. Along with Part he was regarded as the modern master of ‘holy minimalism’.
