I’m ashamed to say that I slept through Naked Lunch the first time I saw it. It was on at 1 AM about two years ago and college had started recently, so I got sleepy early. However, I REALLY wanted to watch it. Let’s just say this is what it looked like: guy comes in, his wife shoots bug poison, he shoots his wife, weird bug thing, the end. I actually watched every one of Cronenberg’s films before I rewatched this a week ago.
The Good Shepherd. I fell asleep at the theater about 35 min in and was woken up during the credits.
The band KISS back around 1985. It was during their unmasked period.
A Hard Days Night around 1999. It was playing at a theater in Portland and my sister went with me after work. I was asleep a few times and my sister kept waking me up.
π (Pi) has made me fall asleep every time it’s been on.
I also was in the theater watching Lars and The Real Girl and really really wanted to sleep but it had less to do with the film and much more to do with exhaustion.

I watched it really late and actually made it all the way through. However I passed out right as the credits began rolling. Does that count?
I do that all the time, not because I get bored watching a film but because I might be really tired.
Recently, I fell asleep to Orson’s Trial, have not been able to finish it off, should do it real soon.
i fell asleep watching that film with the guy from anchorman and andre 2000 ha ha
what was that film called
not old school
my friends were envious that i slept and they were forced 2 watch it !
l’avventura, and when i finally get though it i dont get it. maybe i need a second viewing.
yeah i think tokyo story was overrated and i prefer any naruse film over this.

solaris, i was maybe 10 or 15 mins in to the movie and then i was out cold. i was actually looking forward to this movie, ah well, maybe i wasn’t mentally prepared. i fall asleep on l’avventura too, many many times…
CHICAGO and ARMAGEDON
No Country for Old Men…fell alseep during Tommy Lee Jones’ summation at the conclusion. Had to read a dozen reviews before I finally figured it out. A lot of reviewers were off the mark, too.
Loved Chicago. Loved the music and that’s all it takes.
Double Indemnity
that ‘haunting in connecticut’ movie — bored me beyond belief.
Big Confession here: I have slept through every single Star Wars movie. I have paid for and sat in big-screen theatres, and have always found myself waking up as the credits rolled.
I also slept through Gladiator.
A Man for All Seasons
At home I’m pretty good at stopping the movie and going to “intermission” (bed) when my eyelids get droopy. I’ve never slept in a theater, because I could never accept spending money to sleep. The exception to this is purposefully sleeping in a movie when I worked at a theater, so I got in free. It is actually quite wonderful, very womb-like, and I recommend it. You occasionally wake from your dream to another dream, and back again, it’s very nice. I seem to remember Kiarostami also recommending sleeping through his movies. Here you go:

Ok,I think I have the better story.I fell asleep during “Goodfellas” the first time I saw it.But that’s only because it was around 3 in the night I have drunk a bottle of whine and I ‘ve seen another movie before(that must be "One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest").The funny is that the movie draw my attention,so I re-watch it the next day and….WOW!!“Goodfellas” turned out to be my favorite movie and I have watched around 15 times since then.Interesting story, don’t you think so??
I must have fallen asleep during other movies too,but I have to go out now,so I don’t have time to think.Maybe I’ll come back tomorrow.
last night…Andrei Rublev, :( I promise to watch the entire thing straight through sometime this week!!

You know what? There are a ton of films that I fell asleep while watching, but that speaks more to my own state of body (i.e. tired and sleepy) and mind (e.g. distracted and/or impatient) rather than the quality of the film. There are many good films that require patience and concentration and if you’re not in that frame of mind, it’s not hard to get bored or even fall asleep. Am I right?
yup. Dat wasn’t the question though… :D
I have to laud you people for having the guts to admit to such atrocities – you must be good people.
Redemption will be yours, I am sure of it.
Good luck and God Bless you all !

Basically every Tarkovsky movie I’ve ever tried to watch. I actually fell asleep with an hour of Solaris left and woke up two hours later with the menu on.
