Weren’t the Chinese accused of using CGI to enhance their fireworks (or something like that ) at the opening ceremony of the olympics last year though?
Yeah, they were, and I think they actually did use CGI; still that doesn’t account for those volunteers who actually did play those drums.

I guess that’s like Lang on Metropolis, when he used 10 000 extras for a scene. I could not think of being a director and having to use that many people. I mean, it’s so impressive that people actually do that. Also, I guess it could be compared to Zhang Yimou’s presentation of the Opening Ceremony at the Olympics last year, where he had 2008 synchronized drummers. THAT was impressive, and something that no amount of CGI could compare with.
