Scarlett Johansson’s character in Lost In Translation.
Dogville
Wim Wenders’ Paris, Texas

Definitely Opening Night ! I saw it at the age of 13… I was such a mess after seeing it. Quite a shock after Disney’s pictures !
@matt
im with you on this one
Beneezy: I’d say so, but it depends how you like your films really. Fitzcarraldo is more about human achievement than cinematic achievement in my opinion, but seeing it captured on film is still one of the most powerful experiences I’ve had in a cinema.
There’s several candidates, but the one I’m 100% sure of is Taxi Driver.
Children of Men, the first time I saw it, I fell in love.
barbarella, even though i know she’ll sleep around on me
Pulp Fiction
Sunrise
The President’s Analyst
wings of desire (der himmel über berlin) – love it!
Lost In Translation.
While Scarlett Johansson’s character in Lost in Translation is well portrayed, I’m not sure I’d like to be anywhere near her myself. She just struck me as self-righteous and boring. I thought her boyfriend’s friend was immensely annoying, yes, but the elitist way Johansson’s character judged her was still… off-putting. Especially when she turned flirty and childish herself later in the film.
Again, this is not a criticism of Coppola or Lost in Translation; the character portrayal was great. I just didn’t sympathise much with that particular character.
GHOST WORLD- I was torn between Yojimbo and Bad Day at Black Rock… and then there’s Enid, Seymour and Rebecca. Great film overall and excellent performances by the whole cast made this an easy choice.
Also this is probably the only a film that featured Scarlett Johansson, where I never even thought of seeing her naked to say the least. That’s love! I’ll always remember the day she visited our base in the Middle East once to meet the boys, sign stuff and pose for pics- with no flick to promote. Nice lass.

@Glemaud: it doesnt necessarily have to be “your favorite film.” it can be anything from ugly to beautiful. like i said. like a marriage. do understand. capisci?
