LYNNE RAMSAY! Morvern Callar, please.
Peter Brook. “King Lear”. Please.
Isn’t Dead Ringers also Cronenberg? I know it’s technically OOP, however I’m pretty sure I can see a copy on my shelf…so does he count as a one-time director? (Naked Lunch, Videodrome, Dead Ringers?)
I’d be willing to be $1k that Costa-Gavras’ Z is released before the end of the year ;-)
Mikhail Kalatozov. I Am Cuba is LONG overdo for a Criterion release.
Guy Madden. brand! is the tits, and i wish he was repersented more
Claude Jutra’s ‘Kamouraska’ would compliment his ‘Mon Oncle Antoine’ quite nicely.
David Fincher…get rid of Button and put something on Criterion that’s worth having, like Zodiac.
Noah Baumbach’s Mr. Jealousy would be most welcome.
Josef von Sternberg, “Shanghai Express” or “Morocco”, also some of his silents (a good idea for an eclipse edition).
Paul Schrader ‘Patty Hearst’
Rosselini’s “Voyage to Italy”
Kevin Smith, their we go, I’m just going to leave now.
I’m of the opinion that a lot of Lars von Trier’s filmography that has either gotten the shaft from their original distributors or have yet to be released in America should be added to the Criterion collection and soon, particularly:
Antichrist
Breaking the Waves
Dogville (especially Dogville)
The Idiots
Erice, maybe? Anyone? Anyone for tennis?
Erice, maybe? Anyone? Anyone for tennis?
I Need a criterion edition of Secrets & Lies. Leigh should have this and others titles like All or Nothing (but maybe i’m asking too much).
Martin Scorcese – I vote “Mean Streets” or “King of Comedy”
Your mom.
I agree with Cuaron. Little Princess should be in the Criterion Collection. Hell, more children’s movies and animations in general, but that’s another discussion that’s simply been done many times here before.

I’d love to see an Eclipse set of De Palma’s shorts (none of which are widely available) and early comedies (The Wedding Party, Greetings and Hi, Mom!)
Terrance Malick.
in the end, it all comes down to licensing. if the companies who own the rights to these movies dont want to sell to criterion then we’re out of luck. personally, id still like to see some great public domain films like ‘the trial’ get a criterion release. a lot of the films mentioned (‘mean streets’, ‘zodiac’, etc) are big sellers, so i doubt the owners of the rights would want to lose the income by handing them over to criterion.
out of the directors mentioned, i think ‘badlands’ and ‘dogville’ are badly deserving of a criterion release. as well as fincher’s ‘the game’, which i thought shouldve already been added to the collection.
I second The Game. I realize that it’s probably one of their biggest sellers, but it’s irritating that Criterion chose Fincher’s least interesting, most commercial film to release, when he has done some fantastic work.
One time Criterion directors that deserve another shot:
Derek Jarman
Stan Brakhage
Chantal Akerman(But I guess she’s getting an Eclipse)
Victor Erice
William Greaves
Kristof Kieslowski
Masaki Kobayashi
Directors that need one shot:
Shuji Terayama
Philippe Garrel
Marguerite Duras
Jennifer Reeves
James Benning
Kenneth Anger
Maya Dern
Kiju Yoshida (Eros+Massacre is desperate for a Criterion release)
Jean Eustache
Andy Warhol
Alejandro Jodorowsky
Fernando Arrabal
Walerian Borowczyk
peter smith
Generally when I think Criterion I think of films with no features or next to no features. A film like “The Thin Red Line” makes total sense. After Malick released “The New World” in a directors cut I got hopefully. There was so many great actors cut from that film. And to hear the an alternative audio track with the Billy Bob narration….. that would be amazing.
but I agree with alot of the other titles being mentioned like Crash. That one makes sense since Criterion released the laserdisc. They also released the laserdisc special edition of “The Fisher King”, “Carrie”, “Halloween” and “Tootsie”. I know these films have come out on dvd but none of them feature the Criterion special features.
I would also love to see
-Badlands
-The Rain People
-1492
-The Keep
